The British Royal House will likely send a member of the family to Israel on an official visit, senior diplomats said, indicating a decision to end a decades-long silent boycott of the Jewish state.
British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson told Israeli President Reuven Rivlin he would ask the Royal House to arrange a visit this year during Johnsons visit to Israel this week, The Times of London reported Thursday.
Senior diplomats then told the Daily Express such a visit was likely to occur this year, the centennial anniversary of the Balfour Declaration.

Another Trump coincidence?
Yep, TRUMP EFFECT.
not to be too cynical but what’s to prvent them from shooting their mouths off in destructive ways when they are welcomed to Jerusalem?
the anti-Semitism in UK ruling circles is pretty darned strong, it has been a sicko outfit for many years...
(or maybe this will be a genuine repentence and befriending?
prayerfully so, but pardon me if I say I will believe it when I sees it)
pray for UK that it can overcome its anti-Jewish streak in its ruling class.....AND that the good British people can get their country back from their rulers’ Moslem invasion
*TRUMP BUMP*
I had no idea there was a boycott.
Nor I. It’s referred to as a “silent boycott” here.
Any idea why they hate Jewish people?
Nov. 2, 1917, will the 100th year anniversary of the Balfour Declaration.
Hold over from the Middle Ages and the Catholic churches propaganda.
JEWS DRINK CHRISTIAN BABY BLOOD YOU KNOW.
JEWS STEAL ALL THE MONEY YOU KNOW.
JEWS POISON WELLS YOU KNOW.
JEWS KILLED CHRIST YOU KNOW.
JACK THE RIPPER WAS A JEW YOU KNOW.
And it went on and on for about 4 or 5 hundred years.
Now days it is literally bred into Northern European DNA.
Even the most liberal, progressive European who would welcome their Mudslime overlords who will cut off their heads for some perceived slight, will still find a reason (any reason) to hate the Jews.
Those old dogs aren’t learning any new tricks.
The struggle to expel the British and establish a Jewish state included the scandal and embarrassment of turning away thousands of Holocaust survivors and deporting them back to Germany and the lands of their murderers. And the bombing of the King David Hotel, killing a lot of British officers, has stuck in John Bull's craw ever since.
But compared with any other European country, with the possible exceptions of the Netherlands and Denmark, Britain has been the most accommodating nation for Jews in Europe (since Cromwell and the Lord Protectorate removed a hundreds of years long ban). Most vocal anti-Semitism now is found in the large and growing Muslim community.
maybe not.
we do live for hope
and occasionally somebody does reform, repent, change for the better
not nearly as often as I’d like, tho, you are correct
It is important to understand that this was a British government boycott, not the decision of the Royal family. The Foreign Office has prevented the Royal Family making ‘official’ visits to Israel since 1948. Members of the Royal family including Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, and Charles, Prince of Wales have visited Israel a number of times - just not in an ‘official’ capacity.
The Royals do not hate Jewish people. This boycott of official visits to Israel is entirely the decision of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and if it ends, that will also be the decision of the FCO. Since 1948, British government policy in the Middle East has largely consisted of “Don’t upset the Arabs” and that is basically at the root of this.
The Royal Family have to follow the advice of the elected government except in very specific circumstances. That is what is going on here.
Senior Royals have visited Israel a few times but it has always been stressed these are private, non-official trips - even when they were attending the funerals of Israeli politicians. Prince Philip’s mother (and therefore the maternal Grandmother of the Queen’s children), Princess Alice of Battenberg is buried in Israel - an honour she was afforded because she ‘Righteous Among the Nations’ as she used her status as a member of the Greek Royal family to hide a Jewish family in Athens during the German occupation.
...and in the growing segment of the British population that fears and appeases the large and growing Muslim community. Excellent summation, katana.
