A D.C. restaurant is suing President Donald Trump, saying the Trump International Hotel, which sits just blocks from the White House, represents unfair competition for other businesses in the District.
The owners of Cork Wine Bar, in the Logan Circle area, filed the lawsuit in D.C. Superior Court this week against Trump and the company Trump Old Post Office LLC, which operates the hotel.
This is a claim by a local business who is being competed with unfairly by another local business, said attorney Scott Rome. That other local business just happens to be owned by the president.
Khalid Pitts and Diane Gross insist their suit was not politically motivated.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
They say they want a judge to rule that unfair competition has occurred and to demand that it be remedied through divestment or any other means that the court deems proper.
We simply want to level the playing field, said Pitts.
Tough. He’s Donald Trump and you’re not. Live with it.
Wait, I thought everyone in DC hated Trump, and was boycotting his family businesses?
Maybe they should start serving ketchup with their steaks.
What effing losers
Just step up the halal menu, Mr Pitts ...
I'm pretty sure they'll get all the RAT business. They wouldn't be caught dead in the Trump Hotel.
Not sure how this can proceed past it being filed...the arguments sound ridiculous.
Maybe Khalid can spice up his offerings: maybe show jihadi vids on the big screen.
It’s the little things...
Your average customer at Trump’s restaurant probably wouldn’t enter a business establishment owned by Khalid Pitts at gunpoint.
“Khalid Pitts is the National Political Director for the Sierra Club. In this capacity Mr. Pitts is responsible for directing the Sierra Clubs national political program and electoral campaigns. Prior to joining the Sierra Club, he was the Director of Strategic Campaigns for the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), coordinating the organizations national issue campaign efforts around issues such as Civil Rights and Voting Rights, Social Security, Childrens Health (SCHIP) and Medicaid. In addition, he played a principle role for the SEIU as it worked to pass the Affordable Care Act helping found and serve as Co-Chair of the Executive Board of Health Care for America Now (HCAN) the national coalition representing 30 million people formed to promote, defend, implement, and improve the Affordable Care Act (ACA) at the state and federal levels.
In addition to his role at the Sierra Club, Mr. Pitts serves as a strategic advisor and Executive Board member of several organizations. Chief among them is his role as President and Board Chair of USAction - a grassroots organization fighting for justice through affordable health care, high quality public education, strong environmental policies, fair taxation, and preserving vital public services.”

I’d be careful if I was them. The Trump kids kids buy up these establishments and can these folks. Wouldn’t be the 1st time little fish got ate.
How do they prove harm?
How did they determine it was Trump’s restaurant causing the problem, and not the other 2,200 restaurants in the DC area?
the judge should toss this out, but this is DC.
“Pitts is politically active, having run in 2014 as an independent for a seat on the D.C. Council. Prior to that race, hed been registered as a Democrat. He previously did work for the Service Employees International Union. Gross, a lawyer, worked from 2003 to 2005 for former Sen. Barbara Mikulski, a Maryland Democrat”
Well that explains it I think.
Idiotic suit.
Is it unfair competition when a sports star lends his name to a restaurant? What about when a well-known chef starts his own restaurant? Should Michelin be prevented from issuing stars to restaurants becuse there is a cohort of restaurant guests who will want to eat at Michelin-rated restaurants?
Buncha winers.
Fruits, nuts sprigs, climate change shaming and jihad all in one place.
Can’t make this $hit up. How does this guy find time to run a restaurant?
