Attorney General Jeff Sessions committed perjury during his confirmation hearing when he failed to disclose meetings with a Russian ambassador, Sen. Al Franken told CNN on Tuesday.
"It's hard to come to any other conclusion," Franken said on "The Lead" with Jake Tapper.
Sessions last week said he was recusing himself from any investigations related to President Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign after reports surfaced he had spoken with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak while helping campaign for Trump.
"I have decided to recuse myself from any existing or future investigations of any matters related in any way to the campaigns for President of the United States," Sessions told reporters, adding that his announcement "should not be interpreted as confirmation of the existence of any investigation."
In a letter to Congress Monday, Sessions defended his answers to the Senate Judiciary Committee as "correct" and said he "did not mention communications (he) had had with the Russian ambassador over the years because the question did not ask about them."
Franken told Tapper that Sessions' response was "ridiculous."
"It's not a clarification at all," he said.

I bet Goober Graham is plotting to stab Sessions and Trump in the back. That is why he is subpoenaing the wire trap info on the Russians
So back to Sessions lying under oath again?
Trump already knocked this non-issue out of the news with the Obama tapping Trump Tower story. Guess they’re running out of ideas...??
Is there anything new in the article? I want to ignore this AND Franken.
Perjury should make the demonrats love him.
Franken told Tapper that Sessions’ response was “ridiculous.”
Your rambling hypothetical question was ridiculous you f’en moron.
I think he needs a wooden shampoo from #BasedStickMan.
Yup.
The comedy club squeaks yet again. As soon as one shuts up about it another mouse pipes up.
Here’s the actual line of questioning

Franken was asking Sessions whether Sessions talked to Russians, ON BEHALF OF THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN. NOT whether Sessions talked to Russians in his role as Senator on various committees.
to Franken:
File formal charges against a fellow Senator then, meathead
I hope he files a countersuit
Dear Al,
Opinions vary. Thanks so much for sharing yours! :-)
Amen! And Franken’s question was so convoluted, how could anyone answer it?
Agreed, but the morons in MN did not need to re-elect him in 2014.
Senators and congressmen have immunity under the speech and debate clause. They can say just about anything and get away with it and they do frequently. I doubt Sessions’ testimony would fall outside that protection since he was a sitting senator at the time.
Plus, Franken’s question or whatever it was limited the response to contacts with Russians as a campaign surrogate. Franken was asking about contacts in general.
Why is it the the democrats elect the lowest IQ jackasses available??? Waters, Boxer, Franken, etc... Liberalism really is a mental disorder, and not just the agenda, but the way they act out when they don’t get their way.
Franken saying Sessions PERJURED himself is also LYING. An inadvertent misunderstanding of the question is not lying.
Franken knows better. He really is lying. (We know Franken and others are trying to get Sessions. The allegation of LYING is just one way)
I like Sessions and was a Trump supporter on this site since before he announced.
And I think Sessions committed perjury.
And there’s nothing the Dims can do about it.
This from a guy who had to have the votes counted and recounted for six months to steal his seat.
