After months of planning and deliberations, the 75th Ranger Regiment has been deployed to Syria to participate in the war against ISIS as the coalition closes in on the so-called caliphate’s capital city of Raqqa. Yesterday, the first images emerged of Stryker armored vehicles on their way to Manbij. This comes weeks after Rangers deployed to theater with their Strykers and elements of the 75th Ranger Regiment had been passing through Kurdistan.

By looking at the call sign tag on the back of the Stryker, it is evident that this is 3rd Ranger Battalion out of Fort Benning, Georgia,

ISIS or ISIS-like groups are already all over the Muslim world. Have been for centuries.

We should not get involved.

It’s a little late to circle the wagons.

We’re missing two skyscrapers in NY.

We’ve been fighting them since that “shores of Tripoli” problem.

We should be keeping them out of here and we stay out of there. We have no business getting tangled up in their Islamic civil war of over 1,000 years.

Let them fight it out. They are good at it after all this time.

No it’s not being finished.
And sad to say your friends and family won’t be the last to make the mistake in thinking so ... if they do actually believe that BS.

More people will die so that we are protecting some Muslims from other Muslims. Make not mistake, that is what we are doing there and have been doing.

What you’re saying is you’re either unaware that these ISLAMIST monsters attack us, or you know and you don’t care. Or you know and you don’t know where they plan, train, equip, and are motivated from. Or you know that they train, equip, are motivated from places like Raqqa and Syria and you don’t care. Or you’re saying you believe if you mind your business that’s good enough and they’ll leave you and the rest of the Western world alone. Or you’re saying you know they won’t leave the rest of the world alone and you don’t care. In any case, you’re either blissfully ignorant or well-knowing and indifferent to their evil. In all of these cases, I wish you’d just somehow manage to wake up and think things through to the only conclusion possible. In many ways, you’re aiding them and abetting them with defeatist horse manure.

What I know is history.
What I know is that we have been over there for a long time and we only have MORE terrorists, more problems, more refugees, more murder and mayhem.

Nothing was done to make the situation better for us. And for a bonus we have a bunch of dead Americans.

You can go over there and fight for the Sunnis to get the upper hand or for the Shias to get the upper hand, in a small geographic area, for a short period of time before it changes ... I don’t want our young people dying for to protect some Muslims for other Muslims (for a short while in a select area). It’s insane to do that.

What we should be doing is keeping them out of HERE.

ISIS is more of the creation of Assad than anyone; certainly more than the Yahoos who blame it on McCain and Obama. Assad allowed AQ to operate freely from Syria and attack US/Coalition troops. Daddy Assad has an assist helping Hezbollah kill 250 Marines. Syria’s partner is Soleimani who undeniably, helped kill American soldiers in Iraq. Assad is more responsible for that situation than anyone and I don’t think the Russians are going to tolerate him in the long run.

Bush created ISIS.

Also, it’s no secret, Assad buys ISIS oil: http://www.businessinsider.com/isis-selling-oil-to-biggest-enemy-2015-11

Our fight against the extremist does benefit the host nations. It also benefits us. We remove their training areas, their aura of invincibility, which is a great recruiting tool, and we remove them literally. We’re killing them in great numbers. From your safe position, you can pontificate all you’d like. The fact is that your opinions matter very little in that no one is listening to your “give peace a chance for al Qadea and ISIS” message. This president is annihilating them. You can call it whatever you want, but he’s following through with his promise. You may not like it. And frankly, your argument is with him. The US military is executing his orders. So quarrel with him and not the people who se the wisdom of destroying a relentless and murderous foe of the West, and, as despite your worries and fears, Muslims too.

Killing them is also a great recruitment tool to bring in more fighters.

I don’t think you understand the demographics of the situation. Muslims are almost 25% of the world’s population. They are not all radical but they can be radicalized easily. And they have a very high birthrate and a youth bulge of young men of fighting age and almost fighting age, plus many more aging into fighting age every years. Basically they have an unlimited supply of male fighters spanning the globe (not just in Syria).

We have 5% of the world’s population and our age dispersment is much older. Our birthrate is very low. We don’t have that many men of fighting age (not to mention we have a volunteer military). So, we are going to waste the limited amount of young men that we have against a humongous never ending hoard of young Muslim men? That is a waste of our best and brightest (and strongest and most disciplined) young men. Why would a culture do that to itself?

These Muslims are mostly fighting each other. So why not let them do that?

Yes, some of them have desires to come to our country and do harm, but that is were we can put our efforts. DEFENDING our homeland. Keep them out and hunt down the ones who slip through.

Most of the Islamic religious warriors want to take over their own lands and turn it into a caliphate. And they are willing to kill other Muslims to do it. Why stop them from killing each other? That’s just fewer that we have to worry about.

Europe is a different matter. They have already lost the battle in my opinion and are closer to the Middle East and N. Africa. They have more to lose than we do, yet they are not fighting back for the most part. Very sad situation.

But we are not in their situation. We don’t have to fight a close proximity war over territory that is not ours or ours to defend. We need to protect our homeland, international waters and shipping lanes and airspace. Not take of rathole cities in Iraq or Syria for one Muslim group or another Muslim group.

We’ve been doing that almost 15 years and NOTHING has gotten better over there. It is in fact worse. And on top of that it is not our business to make the area safe for Muslims from other Muslims. That is their job, not ours.

No more of our scarce young men should be sent over there to die on the ground in an Islamic religious civil war. We don’t have a side in an Islamic religious civil war.

The President is not doing what he said. He said America first, not Muslims first. He is helping one group of Muslims against another group of Muslims and willing to expend our scarce in number young men to make one group of Muslims victorious over a city here or there. That is not America First.

Strategically, to hold those rat hole cities we’d have to put even more people on the ground for decades if not centuries. Why?

As soon as we leave, the religious war gets going again.
Again, they have unlimited people to throw into this Islamic civil war ... plus it actually has some meaning to them who wins. We do not have either the people or the will to fight for Sunnis or Shia religions.

We are not Islamic, so this is not our war. Making our young people die for Brand A of Islam or Brand B of Islam is a travesty.

So much for America First.
It looks like Muslims First to me. Thanks Trump.

I voted for Trump and like a lot of what he is doing but not this. I was quiet under Bush but I will not be quiet anymore. Sorry, Trump is dead wrong on this one (as was Bush getting us embroiled in this mess, which even Trump said was true).

I stopped after the first sentence since you’re obviously ignorant of how wars are won or you’re a dilettante lacking a hint of self awareness and how ideas have consequences. Killing them is not a good recruiting tool; it’s a good annihilation tool. But being like you, an advocate of the idea that nothing works, that we’re p*ssies, that defeatism is all we can do, is a good recruiting tool. Fortunately, it doesn’t matter what you think because those calling the shots, Trump especially, are not listening to your foolish chatter.

I think what is missing here is we are assisting with giving support to the Syrian Democratic Forces that includes mainly Kurds with some Christians and Arabs, artillery and air-strikes. Not so much as unilateral fighting against ISIS themselves. We are not present a high number; these soldiers may well want to be there.

Obama shouldn’t have withdrawn us from the area in 2011; whether one wants to argue we shouldn’t have gone in 2003 is another matter, what is done is done.

Europe is a big place, what you said about it applies maybe to Sweden, Belgium and France. Maybe the UK has too many but Italy, Spain, Eastern Europe, etc. are probably safe from your doomsday scenario.
