Two separate sources with links to the counter-intelligence community have confirmed to Heat Street that the FBI sought, and was granted, a FISA court warrant in October, giving counter-intelligence permission to examine the activities of U.S. persons in Donald Trumps campaign with ties to Russia.
Contrary to earlier reporting in the New York Times, which cited FBI sources as saying that the agency did not believe that the private server in Donald Trumps Trump Tower which was connected to a Russian bank had any nefarious purpose, the FBIs counter-intelligence arm, sources say, re-drew an earlier FISA court request around possible financial and banking offenses related to the server. The first request, which, sources say, named Trump, was denied back in June, but the second was drawn more narrowly and was granted in October after evidence was presented of a server, possibly related to the Trump campaign, and its alleged links to two banks; SVB Bank and Russias Alfa Bank. While the Times story speaks of metadata, sources suggest that a FISA warrant was granted to look at the full content of emails and other related documents that may concern US persons.
The FBI agents who talked to the New York Times, and rubbished the ground-breaking stories of Slate ( Franklin Foer) and Mother Jones (David Corn) may not have known about the FISA warrant, sources say, because the counter-intelligence and criminal sides of the FBI often work independently of each other employing the principle of compartmentalization.
The FISA warrant was granted in connection with the investigation of suspected activity between the server and two banks, SVB Bank and Alfa Bank. However, it is thought in the intelligence community that the warrant covers any US person connected to this investigation, and thus covers Donald Trump...

Yes. I have this one saved.
Laz posted same the other day.
GOOD. that you posted separate thread
For
Lunch break for me - Jury Duty.
So sad I had to miss the LIVE Announcement this morning.
I thought the weasel, Comey, said Trump was wrong and needed to correct his statement.
Hard to believe anyone but Trump.
I don’t believe that investigating a bank for possibly fraudulent operations would normally be grounds for a FISA court warrant.
Also, “hacking” would not be something that FISA should be approving warrants for. And this from Wikipedia(I know. Sheesh):) Also rare is for FISA warrant requests to be turned down. During the 25 years from 1979 to 2004, 18,742 warrants were granted, while only 4 were rejected

They never thought he would win..
This story is one more example of the “sources say”. I have quit reading, BUT, it does allude to where Charles Grassley is going with an inquiry on the FBI’s tie to Christopher Steele, the M13 British spy, who Grassley wonders was given carte blanche to spy on Trump at the behest of Trump’s political enemies, during the primary, but also with the consent of the FBI.
Steele’s story did indeed represent one of the first of jillions against Trump that used the foreign connection themes against him.
Also, Breitbart was presumed to be the source of Trump’s fury at Obama, resulting in the Saturday tweets, and the particular story Breitbart distributed attributed a female British woman who was no friend of Trump’s who also implicated that Trump was wired and therefore “guilty”.
I appreciate Charles Grassley opening an inquiry on this basis. It is one thread for debate that needs to be cleared up. Christopher Steele was practically gone underground a few weeks ago, and nothing has been heard of his crowing since, according to news reports.
Grassley is the FIRST to put his name on the line and to name names.. Christopher Steele.
THAT is good reporting and DRUDGE has it up now.
There is no evidence that the administration was actually sharing information with the Clinton campaign. This may have happened, but I would not put it past Obama to have his own private reasons for this type of surveillance with no intention of cutting Hillary in on the info.
Nixon apparently planned to blackmail his Democrat counterparts with exposure (50 points for anyone who knows the “goods” Nixon expected to find at the Watergate Hotel, after all, the MSM of the time never mentioned what the juicy details were supposed to be!). I wouldn’t be surprised at all to find that (1) Obama expected to gather information which could be used to pressure Trump, should he become POTUS, and (2) Obama may have had similar wire taps on Clinton for the same purpose.
After all, a “shadow government” was probably the plan no matter who won.
That woman is Louise Mensch, the author of this article.
Good summary. The story I read in an article over the weekend suggested that there WERE financial transactions conducted between two Russian banks and Trump’s company, but that there was a perfectly reasonable explanation for it. They were transactions at Trump hotels around the world, involving guests who were using credit cards issued by those two banks.
How is this "THE BEST ELECTION EVER"?
It is probably THE WORST,MOST MESSED UP, CRAZY election that has EVER happened in the history of this nation, with a candidate and then a duly elected president being harassed, spied on, had ILLEGAL leaks sent to the damned MSM, had PAID PROTESTORS ( hooligans) go after a candidate, the president and his supporters, VIOLENTLY, and worse.
Yes, Trump won; however, that has only mad things HORRIBLE!
And before you start to claim that I am anti-Trump....I WAS FOR HIM THE MINUTE HE THREW HIS HAT INTO THE RING AND HAVEN'T WAVERED AND INCH SINCE!
There's been ILLEGAL crap thrown into this entire primary and election season, and now during a LEGAL presidency! All of this stuff is what happens in places like the old USSR, Venezuela, RSA, Cuba...sans our side being thrown into jail, tortured, killed.
Please explain!
GREAT POST...BRAVO!

However, the NY Times has a story based on an unnamed source that says Comey has disputed Trump's claim of wiretapping.
I think the Times is lying (as usual).
Comey lied?
But then the media will hate him more than they already do@|!
Would you please post a link to that thread, here, for those of us who missed seeing that thread? THANKS
The NYT (#FakeNews) Snippet in question:
WASHINGTON The F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, asked the Justice Department this weekend to publicly reject President Trumps assertion that President Barack Obama ordered the tapping of Mr. Trumps phones, senior American officials said on Sunday. Mr. Comey has argued that the highly charged claim is false and must be corrected, they said, but the department has not released any such statement.
Mr. Comey, who made the request on Saturday after Mr. Trump leveled his allegation on Twitter, has been working to get the Justice Department to knock down the claim because it falsely insinuates that the F.B.I. broke the law, the officials said.
Well, except Hillary's tweet just before the election:
It is thought the Breitbart story (Steve Bannon) lit the fire under TRUMP this weekend. See my post upthread.
However, this remark came from a “leak”, also. There is a place in Hell for all this cascade of words being printed and spoken on TV, with absolutely no sources, no names on the record, no evidence, and virtually no case, but released to the public like it was Gospel.
Instead, we have no basis for any of the stories, other than “sources say”, but plenty of conjecture, opinion and speculation parading as facts.
It is all too ridiculous. We are on defense, battling air.
Without a little help from our friends on the Hill to be trusted to help us out with investigations seeking TRUTH, we’re pretty done. Nothing can go forward with confidence, without legislation on the Hill.
Democrat hookers, specifically one of the opposing side's wives, I believe. 😀
