I think it’s becoming increasingly clear that the Obama democrats are going to regret having elevated the Sessions Russians issue to that rhetorical crescendo. If this was bush he would ‘for the good of the country’ let them off the hook and thus being made aware of their vulnerability would cover that avenue and attack from a different tack. But this is not bush. This is Donald J Trump and I expect him to come out with a long knife and gut them like a fish.

It sounds like going to the FISA court with a warrant based on false pretexts is illegal. And I think the Russian thing was fake. It was just the excuse to get the wiretap approved because the rules require that foreign agents be the focus of the surveillance. Regardless, it really stinks to high heaven spying on a major political candidate running for president.

The article asserts many errors. FISA is designed to allow continued listening, and to “minimize” the unknown intrusion on innocent snoopees. The whole judicial point of the FISA process is to allow evidence obtained by snooping to come into criminal trials. The criminal penalties side of the law is toothless, and is there to give false comfort to the public.
