A spokesman for former President Obama issued a statement denying the former president or his White House ordered a wiretap of Trump Tower during the election.
The statement came from the former president’s current spokesman Kevin Lewis on Saturday afternoon, after President Donald Trump made the accusation in a tweetstorm that shifted the focus of the news day.
That statement followed a similar denial by an unnamed former senior official in the Obama administration.
Former aide to President Obama, Valerie Jarrett emphatically tweeted that Lewis’ statement was “enough said” but was it?
There are still questions such as, why didn’t the 44th president issue the statement himself but rather opted to have it done through a spokesman who signed his name to it?
And, was it actually a denial?
Jon Favreau, a speechwriter who worked for former President Obama during his administration, warned the media, and fellow liberals, not to paint the statement as a denial that Trump Tower was wiretapped.
I'd be careful about reporting that Obama said there was no wiretapping. Statement just said that neither he nor the WH ordered it.
He is correct. Nowhere in the “denial” is any denial that the wiretap occurred or that the Obama administration knew of it.

I’m hoping Trump uses that power here to arrest Ozero and top Ozero Administration officials, including Cankles the Pantsuit.
Trump could legally detain them until the threats to America have been dealt with. However, in this case I think there would be grounds to set up a military tribunal to try and convict the Dumbocrats involved. GITMO seems like a good place to get all of that done.

Parsing the word “ordered” is the key to this “non-denial denial”.... enough room left to drive all the trucks in the free world through the space that remains.
He ordered the wire tapping of Trump’s valet probably.
p.s. All that’s needed to toss this Obama flunky’s statement on the ash heap of history is one Obamabot outside the WH who was allowed hints or “indications” of what Obama (and Hillary!!!!) wanted, and who had some way to launch the FISA warrant process. Someone in DOJ or someone with access to DOJ or FBI/intel agencies, perhaps???
Given that there were so many libtard political flunkies all over the executive and intel agencies (anyone recall Podesta’s best friend as a senior Dept of Justice official???) it would be extremely plausible that this all could be done without any obvious fingerprints of the Obama WH.
The interesting questions include what kind of evidence has Team Trump acquired and when do we get to know about it???
Point is that “Obama” and “White House” did not need to “order” anything if they had loyal flying monkeys to do what they wanted... which surely they did.
But Trump’s tweets imply that some kind of definite evidence leads right back to Obama, even if not in the form of any WH “order”.....

I posted this morning when I first read about the wire tap.
I said watch the denials. If Obama has his minions respond then the accusation is true.
Having someone else make a statement for you means you can always disown the statement.
I am sure in the coming days Obama will be forced to comment on it. I am sure they are working on a statement that is “true” but not honest.
Obama has no way of knowing just how much President Trump knows.
This also may explain why they have been working overtime to discredit President Trump - they want to do it before Trump can investigate the crimes of the previous administration.
Depends on the meaning of “ordered” is.
Obama could have “ok’ed” it.
Obama could have “suggested” it.
Obama could have or “signed off on” it.
All kinds of possibilities.

Gruber said the president can’t order a wire tap. But Trump said it was the OBAMA ADMINISTRATION, which can (his Justice Department ). Unfortunately, we’re now wise to Gruber and Obama’s obfuscating parsing. So this denial means zip.
