Washington (CNN) Former President George W. Bush and Michelle Obama are surprisingly close considering their political differences, and the 43rd president credits the former first lady's appreciation for his sense of humor as a key reason.
The unlikely pair have often been photographed together during formal events. When Obama embraced Bush at the opening ceremony for the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture last September, the photo of their warm interaction went viral.
"When I saw her, it was a genuine expression of affection," Bush told People magazine as he reflected on the moment. The interview was posted on Wednesday.
The former President is back in the public eye to promote his new book, "Portraits of Courage," a volume of his paintings of military veterans.
"She kind of likes my sense of humor. Anybody who likes my sense of humor, I immediately like," Bush said.
The pair are often seated next to each other during events, including the interfaith memorial service for the victims of the Dallas police shooting in July, last year's funeral for former first lady Nancy Reagan and the 2015 commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the historic civil rights march in Selma, Alabama.

Hey Georgie - I bet Stalin and Mao would have kinda liked your sense of humor also.
You cannot be that naïve or that stupid. So that just makes you evil.
good Grief, GWB. please shut up so i am not ashamed I liked you, once.
The guy is quiet for 8 years and now he won’t shut up.
This was posted earler. And, again, UCK!
Former President Dumbass should just keep his mouth shut.
Some people still don’t know what a dumbass he is.
He’s trying to improve his post POTUS approval for legacy purpose, to bail out the family name. He knows he left office with most sick of Bush anything.
We didn’t need to know that W is a pushover for women who pretend to laugh at his jokes.
We defended this idiot for years. Ugh.
I can explain it too.
George W. Bush is a f***ing idiot.
That’s an odd way to spell Michael Robinson
W was over heard to say “she’s some woman. She can wrestle a big mesquite bush right out of the ground with her bare hands.”
He is auditioning to be a cross between John McCain and Jimmy Carter.

Give him a beak. He is promoting his book.

Here’s what a “conservative” is supposed to be?
* Doing his very best to destroy American sovereignty by melding America into Mexico into Canada???
* George W. Bush (43): “I looked the man in the eye. I was able to get a sense of his soul.
I knew that President Putin was a man with whom I could work.”
* Did nothing when his wife called a homosexual partner’s mom the “mother-in-law” ???
* Allowed the new Iraqi constitution to have a clause where no law would contradict Islam.
* Wanted to sell US port operations to Dubai - a nation that supports terror.
* Advocates a completely open border - to the detriment of national security.
* Calls the Minutemen “vigilantes”.
* Continually calls Islam a “religion of peace”.
* Pursues “free trade”, not fair trade. “Free trade” has not been very fair, so far.
* Supported Specter over Toomey.
* Told Hush to host Specter with softballs, and then Hush carries the water.
* Continually supported Linc Chaffee, and what did it win in the long run?
* Let Ted Kennedy write the education bill.
* Did nothing to rein in pork barrel government spending.
* In an exclusive interview with ABC News’ Charles Gibson, Bush said he believes that both Christians and Muslims worship the same God. “I think we do. We have different routes of getting to the Almighty,” Bush said.

* Bosh said he would do the TARP all over AGAIN!!! I guess he has no problem using communism to try to rescue the free market... (Nov. 12, 2010).
I’m listing the actions of the PRESIDENT (Bush), FYI.
From: Avoiding_Sulla “You can add to the list:”
* never enforced the Beck decision as he had promised.
So that meant that for eight more long years the Dems got funding from unions to which they were not entitled. Republicans who were members of a union (whether they wanted to be or not) could still not effectively withhold that part of their union dues (under fair accounting standards) used to support the Democratic Party and its candidates and its associated NGOs.
Subsequent to that non-performance, we have to endure
1) the unions trying to force card check on all American workers.
2) Harry Reid is about to force a vote in the lameduck session that forces all firemen and police into unions in every municipality no maatter their wishes nor the wishes of the local citizens. That is all tied to the unions having excess money stolen from non-democratic party members over .
* Enforced rules of engagement on our armed forces that bore a remarkable resemblance to police dept policies in any city ruled by liberals.
* Nominated his personal attorney, Janet Myers, to the Supreme Court.

Don’t forget his attempt to put Harriet Miers on the Supreme Court. Her qualifications for that office? Being a Bush family lawyer and golf buddy!I see a lot of cognitive dissonance among GW Bush supporters. On the one hand, they (rightly) dismiss Romney, McCain, and even Jeb as RINO trash, and yet they defend someone as liberal as Romney and MCain until they’re blue in the face.

Where’s the barf alert? IMO, it isn’t coincidental that W has chosen to come out and speak so lovingly about the Obama’s after keeping his pie hole shut for 8 yrs until now - and gives Trump a left handed compliment on his presidency so far?
All of these scoundrels are trying to cover their @sses because they’re scared to death of Trump and Sessions and what they’ll expose!
