4 REASONS WHY GOP’S HEALTH CARE PLAN IS REALLY RINO-CARE
Conservative Review ^ | 03/01/2017 | Daniel Horowitz

Posted on 03/01/2017 7:01:57 PM PST by ForYourChildren

If Republicans were trying to illustrate Reagan’s complaint about pale pastel differences between the two major parties, they couldn’t have done a better job concocting their health care plan. Otherwise, the draft of the GOP plan leaked to Politico would be an utter disaster — both from a policy and political standpoint. The sum of the GOP plan is to take everything that is bad about Obamacare — taxes, regulations, subsidies, and mandates — and leave the critical structure in place, albeit with some policy tweaks around the edges. Worse, even those tweaks don’t occur for another three years. Thus, absent a provision freezing all new enrollment in the comatose exchanges and in Medicaid expansion, a provision not mentioned in the current draft, states will have a perverse incentive to flood the rolls of Obamacare before the minor cuts and restructuring takes place.

The result of the GOP plan is that prices will not come down, choice and competition will not expand in a meaningful way, and the stress on the budget will not be relieved. Meanwhile, the perception will be that Obamacare was repealed and Republicans will then own this disastrous outcome. Stupid is as stupid does.

I want to ask a conservative question.

Is healthcare a legal power authorized to the federal government by the constitution?

That’s the question the UNIPARTY doesn’t want to deal with. Too much money and power involved to answer truthfully.

Truly repealing Obamacare would mean:

1. No more coverage of children up to age 26, even those still living in their parents' basement
2. Re-institution of lifetime caps
3. No coverage for preexisting conditions.

Of course insurance companies would be able to offer these if they wanted to, but only stupid companies would offer these without significant increases in premiums.

The evil of Obamacare was that the goodies were all rolled out to begin with, and then only after Americans got addicted to them did they roll out the penalties.

The Republicans have been talking about repealing the penalties, but not the benefits.

How are we supposed to pay for the benefits without any taxes or fees?

I haven't heard any politician yet mention anything rational with regard to Obamacare. It's all just posturing.

The idea that allowing insurance companies to sell insurance across state borders will bring costs down significantly is a real joke.

All it's going to do is force conservative states to accept the liberal nonsense of more highly populated Blue states, e.g. coverage for sex change operations, abortions, etc.

I get the distinct impression that the GOP either has no idea of what this law has done to the health care in this country or simply doesn’t care.

They don’t understand because being Congress, they don’t have to worry about health insurance or health care.

They don’t care because they are Congress, and are beholden to their donors and deep down like tellin’ us what to do.

This is not a policy dispute. If this disaster of a law is not repealed in favor of a free market solution, the middle class will be financially destroyed. And it is no picnic for many seniors on Medicare either.

We never should of done this:

President Eisenhower held the first White House Conference on Aging in January 1961, in which the creation of a program of health care for social security beneficiaries was proposed.

In July 1965, under the leadership of President Lyndon Johnson, Congress enacted Medicare under Title XVIII of the Social Security Act to provide health insurance to people age 65 and older, regardless of income or medical history

Can we wait until the Bill exists before freaking out?

If there are no penalties, no government system will last.

The “GOP” health “plan” is irrelevant. In point of fact, there’s multiple “GOP” health “plans”, but every one of them is basically just a set of talking points anyway. No one has an actual, completed piece of legislation ready to be voted on. In point of fact, Congress itself doesn’t actually have the capability to draft such a complex piece of legislation.

And none of that matters anyway, because the only health care plan that matters will be President Trump’s health care plan, which will be an actual, complete piece of legislation when he submits it to Congress. Furthermore, we’ve heard President Trump repeatedly state that it will take several months to COMPLETE and actual piece of legislation.

Last night during his SOTU speech to Congress, President Trump stated the basic principles that will be used to construct his health care replacement plan AND he invited all parties to the table to help craft it, INCLUDING any Democrats so inclined to contribute.

And BTW, one of the MAIN principles is that his legislation must transition away from obamacare to “Trumpcare” WITHOUT disrupting the health care system and peoples’ ability to obtain health care during the transition, and that’s no easy task because the current obamacare health care system is a teetering mess that’s about to collapse, and rescuing it is akin to cutting out a cancer in a human being that has metastasized into every nook and cranny and organ and sinew and muscle and bone WITHOUT killing the patient.

Paying for anyone health insurance beyond our own is communism. I agree no one should die in the street. Go to the ER like before. I don’t owe anybody insurance premiums. Rinos better get it right and fast!!

All this faint of heart stuff, and there’s no planes on the table.

I guess I could spaz out on what I might be eating on September 6th this year and start complaining, but that would make no more sense than spazzing out over absolutely nothing concrete here.

Why do we have to match benefits of Obamacare? Hundreds of thousands lost insurance when they foisted the O-care beast on the people. So if a family has to go back to the drawing board and pick a different policy, what’s the problem?

I do think they need to be on top of messaging. And I really think they need to box in insurers, they’re the enemy. Their bottom dollar is their only concern. I even think they might deliberately hose the deal if they don’t get what they want.

“All it’s going to do is force conservative states to accept the liberal nonsense of more highly populated Blue states, e.g. coverage for sex change operations, abortions, etc.”

No. the way I understood what Trump said he wanted was for companies to have the choice to offer insurance to people in other states, the choice to cover various things or not. No forcing anyone to do anything.

Doesn’t really matter. I’m with Karl Denniger...unless the anti-trust laws are brought to bear against the healthcare industry, the exer risign costs are going to collapse the Government and economy in the next 4 years.

This is exactly why you do not ever put the likes of politicians in charge of your life.

They are scum.

They have no worth or value whatsoever. Not even sure why we allow them to exist.

let’s see, taking your comment seriously (which is hard to do).

obamacare repeal downsides:

none.

obamacare repeal upsides (just a few off the top of my head):

people and their young adult kids could work full time again and support themselves and start their families.

the economy could boom again.

the national debt could be managed instead of destroying our financial system.

kids could get off their parent’s insurance which 99% don’t need.

insurance companies could sell insurance again instead of welfare and survive, not die off or leave the market entirely, leaving us with single payer as the only option.

healthy people can stop getting sick while trying not to use obamacare.

sick people can stop dying because they can get healthcare instead of just being covered.

healthy people can be free to take care of themselves with their doctors without gov’t interference.

doctors can be free to make a living and take care of their patients again, instead looking after all of the gov’t requirements.

doctors can stop trying to get data for the gov’t to institute fascistic control of the people.

people or taxpayers could stop paying the massive subsidies and deductibles required for no heath care.

oh well, i could go on for pages, but that should be more enough to answer your argument.

cheers FRiend.
