We're Processing the Horror of It: MacLaine Reveals Difficulty Dealing w/ Oscar Fiasco(barf alert)

It is a moment that MacLaine said she is still trying to cope with days later.

'I think we’re all processing the horror of it. I’m still dealing with it,' MacLaine said in an interview with USA Today.

'I’m concerned with how [Beatty] must have felt, being so close to him. I’m three years older and I’m protective. We know how difficult it was for him, but it was also for me.'

Cameras captured the moment the Moonlight cast and crew learned of their win, and MacLaine could be seen in the background gasping, covering her mouth in shock and then clutching her chest.

MacLaine said that she has also been spending a lot of her time and energy trying to understand why this happened on Sunday.

'I’m basically a mystic. And I’m wondering what was that all about? And I am not sure yet. I have to think about it some more,' said MacLaine.

'The one thing you learned about what occurred at the Oscars is that every instant of life is important. And anything like that can happen to you, driving in a car, leading a seminar, working at your desk and presenting an award.'

In the end, MacLaine said she was forced to go home soon after and skip the night's big parties because of the stress of the situation.

'It is awe-inspiring when you are in front of all of those people you respect so much. Anyone who does the Oscars is nervous if they have a brain,' explained MacLaine, who added that she hopes the Academy will have her brother back next year to present the same award.

These “movie stars” truly, truly live in an alternate reality I’ll never understand the magnitude of.....

...and I’ll ad that I’d hate to see any of their reactions having to deal with a REAL LIFE problem that mattered. You know...like writing your own check to pay a bill and have it bounce or something.

WHO cares... It's just the movies ... sheesh.

It's not like they are making widgets or something. These clowns are so infatuated with themselves and have the most unrealistic idea about what they think is owed to them.

It would take a heart of stone to read all this and not throw my head back and laugh, laugh, laugh.

Normal people would just laugh it off and live stress-free after that.

I think it was a fake scene.I just don’t believe that many f-ups would happen with so many high level actors around. The event does have people talking about it more than usual.
I still don’t plan to watch it next year though.
I just don’t care enough, considering how pompous so many of the actors are. Remember when Julia Roberts said “Republican is in the dictionary between ‘Reptile and Repulsive”.
What a rude, snotty brat!

Yeah, I got divots in my hands from clutching my pearls when I heard about the fiasco. Nearly put me off my beer. All evening I was thinking, “Wasn’t there supposed to be some awards show tonight? Wonder how Spring Training is going?”

“Normal people would just laugh it off and live stress-free after that. “

Just a bunch of narcissistic, self-absorbed nobodies, who read what someone else wrote in front of a camera for a living. Everyone should get real lives and quit giving these useless turds their money. We haven't been to a movie in probably twenty years, because we have lives in which we are the real participants.

“with so many high level actors around”

And what, prey tell is a “high-level actor!” There isn’t a one of these worthless turds that could take a bent dime out of a coke machine by pushing the reject lever. They all remind me of the idiots I see at the gas station every time I go that just stare at the pump for a couple of minutes trying to figure out out to pump their own gas.

I gotta admit that I think it would be funny if some from La La Land sued for pain and suffering when they found out that they did not, in fact, win after all. :-)

Let me get this straight. Beatty opens the envelope. It says, Winner Emma Stone for Best Actress. He and Dunaway are on stage to award the best picture, not best actress. Right? He opens the envelope, and gets this weird puzzled look on his face, I suspect because he reads Emma Stone, Best Actress La La Land. He's thinking, "this is odd." And hands the envelope to Dunaway, whom we now know ISISTED that she get to read the winner. She looks at the winner, and sees LA LA LAND. And blurts out La La Land! I'm sure it's kinda scary being on stage in front of millions of people, but if you're in command of your senses, you would think most people would have stopped looked, and said..."Wait a minute here. I think we might have a mistake." IOWs you have this flake guy from PW who is tweeting his friends, who screws up, but LET'S FACE IT FOLKS. THE PRESENTERS WERE THE ONES WHO SCREWED UP BIG TIME. THEY SHOULD HAVE NOTICED THE MISTAKE.
