I can say “Roast beef on rye with swiss, lettuce and mayo” in 3 seconds or I can pound a key board for 3 minutes while the counter guy watches me. It’s a waste people. Going out to eat is supposed to be relaxing, not a high tech swipe a push fest.
Different strokes for different people thus options will be available. I’ve seen these kiosk
in use in smaller chains for the last 10 years. They will either become the norm in larger
operations, fail or remain in the smaller companies. You pull up to the gasoline pump,
insert your card, pump your gas and go on. A lot of stores like Walmart use some
form of punch, pay and go. Take care.
If you’re at all competent it shouldn’t take you any longer to put in your order than it did the dude you used to tell your order to, and you don’t have to worry about him mishearing you, not paying attention, or taking offense to your MAGA hat and deliberately screwing it up. And really it’s fastfood, that’s not relaxing, that’s fast, but having your order right the first time is pretty relaxing. I bang through the self-checkout at the grocery store so fast the supervisor once offered me a job.
