I agree.
Milo used his ironic, bespoke, glittery Liberace-like gay persona as a rhetorical flashbang, and I can appreciate how and why that works with a certain audience.
However, hes been inching toward a different persona - penitent - for months at least, and this crisis may enable him to step right out of the dangerous faggot mode and into an even-more-subversive stance: that of a repentant and redeemed man walking toward Truth.
He needs a good confession. One in which his true Savior truly saves. Not some bullfritter spirituality like Flannery OConnors fictional Church Without Christ: where the blind dont see and the lame dont walk and whats dead stays that way.
The Catholics Are Right About Everything: title of one of Milos talks. Be a Catholic, Milo. You know why, and you know how.
And while Milo pretends to be an int’l intellectual, I doubt Flannery O'Connor is much on his wavelength. Brits don't think much about our greatest short story writers.
There is only so much naivete I can take on FR. You got it right with your Liberace remarks (and I predict Milo will follow along those lines). But I'm afraid as much as Milo would have us think he is ironic, he is sadly true to form for most wealthy gay men: narcissistic, flamboyant, cynical and shallow.
“a rhetorical flashbang”
One of the best turns of phrase I have run across in years. Thank you.
My expectation exactly. I think that this is a God tap to bring him home. Praying for him.
I agree with you.
I think there’s something fragile about him, but I don’t know how it’s going to manifest itself.
Honestly...i never understood what the big deal about him was...oh well.
Fragile??? More sentimentality!
It is not naiveté. I never thought Milo was being ironic. He is very much stereotypical gay guy.
When I lived and worked in lower Manhattan, I eventually began to find gay guys , especially the Milo types, extremely grating on the nerves. But moving away for a good long while has eased that. Now I find the people who live around me now to be grating. But I'm just that way, and I am a personality snob.
I support Milo because of his fearlessness against the left. Weather you call it trolling, or being a contrarian or a drama queen, I don't care. He does what a lot of all-talk Freepers wouldn't do. He goes right into the lion's den and calls them out and wins fans in a demographic that actually counts.
What are you suggesting, Mrs. Don-o? That Milo will be able to sashay the gay away?
What are you suggesting, Mrs. Don-o? That Milo will be able to sashay the gay away?
I have no problem with people who like Milo and think he’s doing a good job, although I personally think he’s a phony. It’s the endless sentimentality attached to him - especially from female freepers. And, I’m sorry, that last video of him chattering away about Father Mike, while it wasn’t a total shock to me, it was disgusting.
Milo puts me in mind of, naturally, Oscar Wilde. After orbiting the Holy Faith all his life, sometimes quite far away, sometimes nearing as if he would come in for a landing, only to veer off again --- after vamping and camping and seducing peers and stable boys --- after his imprisonment --- after his release and return to his sodomite lover ---- after three years of exile, misery and sickness, and at last true destitution --- he finally gave in to Jesus and entered the Catholic Church on his deathbed. May God make him glorious in His Kingdom.
I hope it won't take sordid misery to finally lasso the soul of Milo, but if it does, it's still a good bargain. An eternally good bargain.
Oscar Wilde was born a Protestant, not a Catholic. And he was a lot funnier than Milo.

Why Are Some Conservatives Still Defending the Abhorrent Milo Yiannopoulos?

I agree. Milo takes on the left without hesitation and without regard for “triggering” or “feelings”. He is pro-life, he sees feminism as the true enemy of women, and drives the leftist college scum into real fits of rage. This is why they made such a thorough search to find something to destroy him with. For every time he is annoying, he is also hilarious and spot on. I really hope he can transcend this, but they nailed him good.
