The California Senate was thrown into chaos and anger on Thursday when a Republican member was forcibly removed from the floor for allegedly speaking out of turn during a session.

Republican colleagues say Sen. Janet Nguyen, R-Garden Grove, was silenced by the Democratic majority when the Senate sergeant-at-arms escorted her from the chamber as Nguyen tried to criticize the late Democratic lawmaker Tom Hayden for his stance against the Vietnam War.

“He sided with the communist government that enslaved and killed millions of Vietnamese, including my family,” Nguyen said. Without U.S. support for South Vietnam, “I wouldn’t be here today. I would be dead.”

Hayden was just an old hippy who married Jane Fonda. That’s all anyone really needs to know.

Do they have a Rule 19 like the Senate just used to shut-up Lizzie Warren?

CA Dems demonstrate they don’t know how to handle the opposition. Republicans need to unite around this.

Did she really believe that the Communist Party would allow her to criticize them in their Own House??

I believe they do and those rules also mention former members of the body.

She can say what she wants to reporters outside.

Haden was a rabid communist supporter during the Viet Nam war. He made several political pilgrimages to Hanoi and even met with Viet Cong representatives in 1968 in then communist Czechoslovakia where he embraced them shouting “I am a Viet Cong!” We are all Viet Cong! His wife Hanoi Jane Fonda got all the publicity but Hayden was just as rotten.

From a different article:
“Nguyen said she found the Democrats’ attempts to silence her ironic, when in May 2016, Sen. Mark Leno (D-San Francisco) spoke in opposition to a resolution honoring former President Ronald Reagan for advancing the public good. Leno, who was critical of Reagan’s cuts to AIDS research funding, spoke at length against Reagan, and said he would not support the resolution.”

The CA senate had given a tribute to Hayden who was a previous member. She tried to give a conflicting viewpoint based on her family’s and others who fought against the Communists in Vietnam and she was silenced.

she should respect the right of others to have a different perspective on Hayden.

But, apparently her right to have a her own perspective didn't matter. Animal Farm lives!

That’s a good question. Maybe there is no Rule 19 though, because when it happened to Warren, the GOP in the room remained relatively silent. With this senator of Vietnamese descent, I heard the rabblerousing of mob rule. The whole auditorium of democrats were united in shutting down her free speech. I hope she gets a lot of on air attention to elaborate on her points.
Even 40 years later, the Vietnam War remains a highly controversial event in our history, and for many different reasons.

I watched a couple of videos of that.

It reminded me of videos of Saddam Hussein’s reign in Iraq, when members of the “senate” were hauled out of the chamber and summarily executed.

California is definitely a fascist dictatorship. Time for the “tree of liberty to be watered with the blood of patriots” again.

What’s really shocking in all of this is that California has a Republican in the state senate.
