Oroville Dam Got No Obama Stimulus Funds For Repair In 2009.
IWB ^ | Pamela Williams

Although the Oroville Dam supplies drinking water to the entire State of California, no politician seemed to care…especially Obama. Almost 200,000 residents north of Sacramento were ordered to evacuate while authorities attempted to repair erosion of the dam’s emergency spillway, which would release “catastrophic” flood waters if it collapsed. We are talking “catastrophic” here! There is no public record of the dam, the tallest in the U.S., receiving any of the federal money from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which was intended for repairs to infrastructure around the nation. Other projects that received money from the stimulus package were $2.2 million for sidewalks and $2.5 million for a 205-acre “zero net energy” community on the campus of University of California-Davis. That is Obama for you. What is “zero net energy” anyway?. The California Department of Water Resources denied that it had failed to listen to warnings about the dam’s safety. “We have a very rigorous schedule of inspections that is determined by state and federal regulators,” spokesman Eric See said. No one wants to take any responsibility for the Oroville Dam emergency…no one. But now California Gov. Jerry Brown asked for around $162 million for cleanup, but costs for repairs could hit $200 million. The people of California should be furious with the Liberals who looked the other way while Oroville was a ticking time bomb.

I was one of the first to say it... that’s why “stimulus” is not the answer, no matter which party is pimping it. Sorry NorCal... I knew it in my heart, you were punished by the last admin, while I bet SoCal got your share to terrorize the state and provide funds to unions and to hire protestitutes and R Emmanuel.

I have explained on other threads that i was building a very large public project in California when Obama came into office. We watched and commented upon how certain states, like California and Illinois, took projects starting, ready to start and about to start and stopped them while they added them to the list of Stimulus projects. The goal was to transfer state projects for the democrat states to Federal funding and then the State used their money for politically supporting THERE selected special people in research, education, law, and NGOs.

As much as I hate Obama for all the screw-ups he did, this one was not his. The damn, along with a number of them, was earmarked for money, but it was to be spent by three power companies in California that sited that the damn met federal safety standards and that “earth” spillways were acceptable. This one was the screw-up of California that told the feds they didn’t need the funds and by states rights, they had the last say.

But when it all came down to it, Gov. Moonbeam, who was a major part of the idiocy, may say that Trump isn’t his president, but it didn’t stop him from begging emergency funds from Trump who surrendered the cash immediately. Can you hear him now gov?

And, there was no need to se the money to repair and create dams because the man-made climate change had doomed California to perpetual drought. The politicized waacka-doodle Berkley scientific community believed their own hype. Hubris is great, ‘eh?

Only 9% of the so called stimulus actually went to true public works infrastructure projects. Most of those were simple asphalt overlay projects as those were considered exempt from environmental regulations which is the biggest killer of project delivery due to the time needed to comply and get final project approval.

Don’t think you can lay this on Obama. Did the State of California make a specific request for 2009 stimulus fund to pave the emergency spillway at Oroville dam. Why should they give Federal money for a project that the State of California did not request. It was not a Federal Dam. Why should the Federal Government care. It was not a requirement for renewing the license for the dam. The California engineers said it was not needed. Evidently the Federal Engineers didn’t think it was necessary either. The only group that thought it should be required was three environmental organizations. All they did was petition the Federal Government to make it a requirement for the dam’s license renewal.

Yeah, Governor Brown sounds quite silly now asking for help from the one he despises so much.

So you would spend 10-15 million on a project yours and the federal engineers said wasn’t necessary.

That is true. The women lobbied for, and received, a good portion of the money for increased services, employing more women, instead of infrastructure spending.

Almost one trillion dollars EVERY year! Congress never passed a budget during Obama's tenure. They used so-called baseline budgeting. This means every line item just had the same agreed upon percentage increase from the previous year's budget. Good programs, boondoggles, all the same.

What did congress do for the past 6 years? The House of Representatives primary responsility is the budget.

The go along to get along days are over. There is a new sheriff in town.
