The announcement Thursday that the partners of the Leviathan gas reservoir will invest $3.75 billion in its development is a devastating blow to the BDS movement, Eli Groner, director-general of the Prime Minister's Office, told The Jerusalem Post on Thursday.
The development of Leviathan, which is scheduled to take about three years, constitutes both the largest energy project and financial investment in Israel in the country's history.

Anything that takes down “Bush Derangement Syndrome” is a plus to me.
the end of Israel's occupation and colonization of Palestinian land and the Golan Heights, full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and acknowledgement of the right of return of Palestinian refugees.
The campaign is organised and coordinated by the Palestinian BDS National Committee.
The campaign was started on 9 July 2005 by over 170 Palestinian non-governmental organizations in support of the Palestinian cause for boycott of Israel, disinvestment from Israel and international sanctions against Israel.
I thought BDS was Beebe Derangement Syndrome?
BDS [Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions] movement
This is welcome news.
I thought BDS was started in the 80’s - thanks for the clarification
YES!
With natural gas prices continuing to fall sharply, this investment is a welcome shot in the arm to the industry
LOVE IT!
You have to wonder when they will find the oil :-)
This leaves the Palestinians as the only middle easterners without oil. Talk about luck.
But seriously, its starting to look like the med sea has a lot more oil in it than people thought. Maybe this could induce Egypt to take back the Gaza Strip to get any offshore oil rights that might go with it.

Sounds to me like that's a foreign boycott. From the Office of Anti-Boycott Enforcement
The antiboycott provisions of the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) apply to the activities of U.S. persons in the interstate or foreign commerce of the United States...Conduct that may be penalized under the TRA and/or prohibited under the EAR includes:
◾Agreements to refuse or actual refusal to do business with or in Israel or with blacklisted companies.
◾Agreements to discriminate or actual discrimination against other persons based on race, religion, sex, national origin or nationality.
◾Agreements to furnish or actual furnishing of information about business relationships with or in Israel or with blacklisted companies.
◾Agreements to furnish or actual furnishing of information about the race, religion, sex, or national origin of another person.
The TRA does not "prohibit" conduct, but denies tax benefits ("penalizes") for certain types of boycott-related agreements.{Unless you know what you're doing)
The penalties imposed for each "knowing" violation can be a fine of up to $50,000 or five times the value of the exports involved, whichever is greater, and imprisonment of up to five years.
As has occasionally been suggested, palestinians can do what they want since they're not a state. Israel's fault. Not so, the law is about cooperating with foreign boycotts. They are foreign.
Of course economic reality trumps all this. But in my unprofessional opinion, I'm not a lawyer, those cooperating with BDS seem to be in violation of the law. Unless, of course, State approves the boycott.
“I thought BDS was started in the 80s - thanks for the clarification”
You are right that the global disinformation campaign funded and spread through infiltration of academe and government by Israel’s enemies did start in the 80’s. They just weren’t using the term then.
I know why I thought I had seen the term in the 80’s BDS that is.
Had to do with universities and social justice types forcing wall street firms to divest from south African countries to battle corruption. Worked about as well as it is now.
been 30 yrs so I cannot remember all the BS that went along with it but - boycott and divest I do remember
AWESOME!!!!
Thanks for the ping. :)
