Maxine Waters Brings Culture and Civility Back to Our Public Discourse

RUSH: So here’s Maxine Waters adding to the culture and the civility of our public discourse. I’m looking for the audio sound bite even now. Grab number 13 and number 14. This was last night on a cable network, and she was discussing Trump’s relationship with the Russians. You know, Trump worked with the Russians to steal the election, is what the Democrats think. You know why they think that? Because Trump cracked a joke.

There were 33,000 missing Hillary emails. Nobody could find them. She claimed she deleted them. She handed over 30,000 to the State Department. They had them. They analyzed them. There are 30,000 she deleted. But people claimed that they had them. Like Kim Dotcom and there were others, that claimed they knew where they were, but nobody could produce them. And so Trump at a press conference personally asked the Russians to get involved in the search.

He said, “Maybe the Russians could find those emails — and if the Russians find ’em, please give them to the media.” Well, I don’t know how you get there from here, but the media then reported that Trump was encouraging the Russians to hack the Hillary campaign and produce the evidence to the media. They had no sense of humor about it. That’s why Maxine Waters and others think that Trump and the Russians were working together to hack the election. Here what she said first…

WATERS: (shouting) Why do you think they hacked into our election? Because they have to make sure that Donald Trump got elected so that he could help them with what I think is a huuuuge deal, not only to lift these sanctions, but to take over, y’know, all of these Soviet countries and pull ’em back into the Soviet Union, so that they could have access it to all of these resources. It’s clear to me! I just think the American people had better understand what’s going on. This is a bunch of scumbags. That’s what they are!

RUSH: (laughing) So there we have, a Democrat Party once again adding to the civility of the discourse, Maxine Waters claiming that Trump and his people are scumbags ’cause Trump wants to help Putin put the Soviet Union back together by raping a bunch of other countries and stealing their resources. And so she was then questioned. “Those are very strong words, Congresswoman. Who do you mean by that? When you call them ‘scumbags,’ who are you talking about?”

WATERS: All of these people who are organized with these oil-and-gas interests —

WATERS: — president of the United States, these back channeling that you see. These are a bunch of scumbags. That’s what they are.

WATERS: Tillerson is there to get these sanctions lifted. I believe it. Just watch him! He’s gonna continue to work on it. This is important for him. He was there because he negotiated the deal for Exxon with Putin.

RUSH: What deal? What deal is she talking about? Tillerson’s done a lot of deals. Trump’s done a lot of deals, but she’s got a deal in mind that Tillerson negotiated with Putin. Putin is there, or Tillerson’s there to lift the sanctions. (laughing) “They’re just a bunch of scumbags.” I think you know what’s new about this the Democrat Party not liking the Russians. That’s a first. The Democrat Party not liking the idea the Soviet Union back together. The Democrat Party loved the Soviet Union! The Democrat Party in the eighties and the seventies propped up the Soviet Union.

The Democrat Party of the 1980s chose the Soviet Union over Ronald Reagan, in Nicaragua, and in Moscow as well. Now, all of a sudden, they don’t like Russia and they don’t like the Soviet Union?

The Los Angeles congresswoman's husband had ties to OneUnited Bank, which received federal bailout funds. She helped set up a meeting last fall with the bank and Treasury officials.

WASHINGTON AND LOS ANGELES — Rep. Maxine Waters, one of Los Angeles' most enduring liberal politicians, has come under scrutiny because of bailout funds that went to a bank in which her husband had owned stock and served on the board.

Waters was a senior member of the congressional committee dealing with the financial crisis when OneUnited Bank -- one of the nation's largest minority-owned institutions -- received $12 million in bailout funds.

Her husband, Sidney Williams, served on the bank board until early last year and held at least $500,000 in investments in the bank in 2007, the most recent year for which public financial disclosure statements are available.

A month before Congress enacted the bailout program, Waters helped set up a meeting between the chief executive of the bank, representatives of other financial institutions and Treasury officials.

"When a member of the financial services committee calls, you pay special attention," said Jeb Mason, who was a high-ranking Treasury official last fall.

Mason said that the September meeting was billed as a broad discussion by minority-owned banks of the problems they faced but that it ended up a discussion of one bank's problems.

Mason said he only recently learned of Waters' husband's ties to OneUnited and would have liked to have known about them. He added, however, that the connection didn't influence the department.

OneUnited did not receive any federal money at that time, but by mid-December, it had received $12 million in bailout funds. Waters did not respond to requests for comment.

Pres Trump needs to suggest AG Sessions make an inquiry to the US Dept of the Treasury and be sure to ask what RAHM AND Obama were doing in the US Treasury after Obama got elected.

Treasury prolly HAS a huge Rahm/Obama paper trail. One can get awfully rich awfully fast knowing the Fed's Treasury moves in advance.

Generally, the House ethics committee does not reveal the names of representatives involved in preliminary investigations in order to protect them from unfairly being associated with impropriety.

But representatives Maxine Waters (D-CA), Laura Richardson (D-CA) and up to six others were identified as targets of committee probes after a junior staffer improperly uploaded an internal document to a peer-to-peer file-sharing network, making it accessible to virtually anyone.

Experts believe the file was downloaded by users in Washington, New York and even as far away as London, and the leak became public after the Washington Post published the news.

The staffer responsible was fired soon thereafter, but that provided little solace for lawmakers whose reputations can be clouded by even the specter of investigation. …
