Gail Heriot is a law professor at the University of San Diego, member of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, and potentially, the next leader of the Department of Educations Office for Civil Rights (OCR).
Last month the due process advocacy group Stop Abusive and Violent Environments (SAVE) started circulating a letter supporting Heriot for the job, which oversees Title IX compliance on college campuses, and it drew more than 240 signatures from mostly academics in various fields.
The signed letter was shared with some members of Congress and Donald Trumps transition team before the inauguration, but was published last week by Education Views before it was formally released to the public.
Though she is better known for opposing racial preferences in education, Heriot is a vocal critic of the Obama administrations expansive view of Title IX.
She joined with fellow civil rights commissioner Peter Kirsanow in 2015 to argue against a massive budget increase for the office she might soon lead:
Though OCR may claim to be under-funded, its resources are stretched thin largely because it has so often chosen to address violations it has made up out of thin air. Increasing OCRs budget would in effect reward the agency for frequently over-stepping the law. It also would provide OCR with additional resources to undertake more ill-considered initiatives for which it lacks authority.

A gestating win.
So she hates kangaroos and trans-specials that identify as kangaroos? Bad choice, Mr. President! (/liberal whack-job...)

My kind of girl
See!!! More evidence of Trump's Russia connection!! The Russians hacked the election!!
She needs to gut Title IX.
Russian kangaroos hacked the election!!
End the Dept. of Education immediately
They have nothing to do with education, everything to do with politics and pushing a leftist social-engineering agenda.
I see no reason why this ‘civil rights office’ can’t be eliminated (as a step toward eliminating the entire cabinet department). It may be redundant with parts of the DOJ.
She sounds great!
It is a the Prussian system of mass indoctrination into idiocy and slavery.
Socrates stated that when the State controls “education” it will just make slaves of the masses. He was a genius.
We need local control only. Parents control the “system” their children are in. (Charter schools have corporate control which can be dangerous with no parental input, who would not know psychological subversion was being used on their children, like in Common Core, to flip worldview.
Gut it? I’d say eviscerate it into a million and one pieces that could never be put back together again. Title IX on its face is ridiculous and has cost universities and taxpayers untold millions in revenue due to in many cases unrealistic compliance guidelines and it has greatly limited opportunities for male scholarships in non-major sports. These programs are being eliminated only to be replaced by women’s sports that act as nothing but a financial drain that female athletes or the student body care little to nothing about. It is a terrible program that would be better off dead.
Title IX = Communistic Redistribution In Action.
Elsewhere:
The Affordable Care Act = Communistic Redistribution In Action.
Deferred Action for Child Arrivals = Communistic Redistribution In Action.
See a pattern yet?
I love Gail. Met her a couple of times at FedSoc gathering in DC.
