And, in Mesa, Arizona, a 24-year-old son of undocumented Mexican immigrants won the trust of a bank -- a green light for a mortgage -- but now fears deportation.

if he was born in the USA he has no need to fear deportation. He is a US citizen.

If he is illegal, I shed no tears. If he doesn't know these facts or is ignorant to the difference, then he is too stupid to own a house.

What kind of bailout will the banks request of the fedgov when they lose on mortgages held by those who get deported?

No, I’m not saying that at all.

The market has no passion for issues, the market has no bias, the market has no agenda.

Less demand for real estate leads to lower prices for real estate.

Lower prices for buyers means less profits for sellers.

Bubbles popping are always that way.

For people with homes as investments to sell, well, they were always always always gambling with a hope for inflation because buildings are a maintenance money sink. My heart doesn’t bleed.

For people selling to move elsewhere, the popping bubble should lower prices elsewhere.

More Winning.

Because forty to sixty million aliens won’t be occupying existing residences. Ooh. Forgot to pretend there are only twelve million.

“For people selling to move elsewhere, the popping bubble should lower prices elsewhere.”

I guess it depends on where elsewhere is.

However, if we are all catching a falling knife, we are all going to get cut.

Yeah, the MSM loves the Queen’s English: the treasury is the “Royal Mint” but what is owed is the “public debt”.
After Walter `Gas Bag’ Cronkite and his progeny (Rather, K-k-katie C., Brian W., et al.) our BS detectors have been fine-tuned by these tall tale tellers.

And that is good. Home prices will go down and wages will go up. Brilliant.

I always wonder where they find these people that they use in their immigrant stories. How do they know these people who are living far away from each other? I think they get their names from some liberal advocacy groups.

Ok you have to look at holistically. The owners is living in the USA so their house may go down .00001% but the quality of their life because of lower taxes and lower welfare use demand will go up after we get rid of all the foreign nationals in the USA. The upside is huge and you are looking at tiny “could” that won’t even happen. I think this type of propaganda is designed for people like you. UFB.

So even if a relatively high paid H1B exists, their US counterparts make more.

Correction from A Silicon Valley FReper who's been-there-done-that: The US counterpart does NOT make more, because the US counterpart is UNEMPLOYED.

The dastardly H1B program caused and continues to cause massive unemployment for US engineers, because the Indians coming in _displace_ them, NOT "supplement" them.

Another example of mental masturbation from a journalist making probably less than $12,000 per year.

SF needs for home prices to come down. Maybe normal, middle class families will be able to live there again. Instead of being forced into places like Oakland.

This is something to celebrate.

The Government will have less money from property taxes to waste on indoctrination centers (public schools) and perks for Gub-ment drones.

Panic ensues!

The return of realistic interest rates will compound the effect. (The boomlet now is from people trying to get in before rates go up any more.) And what if the market-distorting mortgage interest deduction went away?

Here’s hoping my kids can afford to buy a home in the next few years.
