Why American campuses have fallen to the angry snowflakes

While young Americans are being exposed to toxic levels of illiberal education, their Israeli peers are quietly slogging through their studies without the benefits of frat parties, safe zones or such illuminating courses as 'The Art of Walking' or 'The Joy of Garbage.'

Many American campuses are warping liberal arts education so as to indoctrinate today's naïve students into becoming tomorrow's social justice warriors. And while approximately 60% of all freshmen college students in Israel major in the social sciences and humanities, college life here isn't widely perceived as an ideological training ground for a cultural revolution. Rather, Israelis tend to regard higher education as just another stage on the long rite of passage from youth to adulthood, nestled somewhere in between serving in the Israel Defense Forces, a post-army trip to India and starting one's own family.

When U.S. colleges tout the likes of billy boy ayres, bernardine dohrn, angela davis and founder of kwanzaa, ron karenga (sp), well, there ya go.

The book No Campus for White Men is worth a read.

Well, to be fair, Israel has its social problems - and the gay rights parades they are so proud of are just as disgusting as ours.

“Fallen” to the angry snowflakes? U.S. Colleges have CREATED the angry snowflakes.

Any college that does not take a politically neutral stance should be defunded.

Imagine a political cartoon of a number of panels.

The first shows a group of folks milling about.

In the second someone begins shouting “left” and pushing in that direction.

In the third more are doing the same and they’re bunching up on the far left side.

In the fourth a large number of folks are now bunched up on the far left side.

Finally, that bunch has grabbed up signs, some are throwing things, as they angrily point to their right, accusing “Right, Right!”

That’s the evolution of the Democratic Party and so-called Progressivism.

The US government education system is the propaganda wing of the Democrat party.

Btw, we should call them “conformatoriums” instead of universities.

I retired from a higher learning institution after about 30 years service. I watched a lot of decline and came to the conclusion that there are a few things that have contributed greatly to the demise of college-level education:

1) All to many colleges and universities slowly become willing to whore out their academic reputation to contracts and grants from a government who only seeks validation from academia for its own political goals;

2) Colleges and Universities are ALL about money in the end. More money for its sports ‘money machine’ (and the moral and ethical devaluation that comes with), growing pandering to foreign students because they pay much higher tuition, and a contract/grant revenue influx perpetuated by ideological academics with political goals masquerading as legitimate scholars; and

3) These institutions have grown complacent and political at the same time. Complacent about real scholarship, and political because of wholly insufficient vetting and review of their chief officers and ‘professors.’

I remember reading almost a decade ago about the real money backing Harvard. They had/have an endowment portfolio that amounted to over 5 billions of dollars. Yet they still charge a flagrantly outrageous tuition to this day. Is this scholarship to progress the advance of this nation?

Cut all grants to colleges and universities. No more government support, except for STEM programs.
Ditto for college loans - no college loans except for STEM majors.
Starve the beast.

I like the word “Indoctinariums”. The sad part is that either term fits perfectly.

It started in the late 60’s when university administrators began caving to organizers of radical sit-ins.

When will parents get the idea that sending their children to these colleges is a bad idea.

You mean when anyone in uniform was harassed by sds assclowns regardless of what you were doing? Yeah, I have some recollection of those days. The era of snowflakery has blossomed.

Not only that, when did it become a parents “responsibility” to amass YUGE mountains of debt to pay for their tender little butts to attend these indoctrination centers? I know Mrs. rktman worked her way through at various jobs and used pell grants and student loans. Her folks were NOT in any position to pay her way. I suppose there are still quite a few who work hard to achieve their goals but it sure doesn’t appear that way.
