AP Exclusive: Hundreds of Texans may have voted improperly
Chron ^ | Feb. 18, 2017 | David Saleh Rauf

Texas election officials have acknowledged that hundreds of people were allowed to bypass the state's toughest-in-the-nation voter ID law and improperly cast ballots in the November presidential election by signing a sworn statement instead of showing a photo ID. The chief election officers in two of the state's largest counties are now considering whether to refer cases to local prosecutors for potential perjury charges or violations of election law. Officials in many other areas say they will simply let the mistakes go, citing widespread confusion among poll workers and voters..."We don't consider it something that we want to go out and prosecute people over,"

They need to prosecute each and every case of illegal voting to the fullest extent of the law. This fraudulent voting needs to end and the way to end it is with proper laws and controls, stiff penalties for cheating.

... by signing a sworn statement instead of showing a photo ID ...

I wonder if any of them just refused to show it to make a "statement".

A few years back the local paper (Dallas Morning News) had a letter to the editor wherein someone stated that he was a US citizen, had lived in Texas all his life, had never had to show an ID to vote before, and he sure wasn't going to show one now just because the law had changed. I never saw a follow-up letter describing his experience.

I don't understand how people operate in today's environment without a photo ID.
Even if you don't drive you can get photo ID via the Drivers License Bureau.

They can’t. They don’t. There was a video of somebody going down in the hood and asking people if they had ID. So condescending and racist to claim people can’t get positive ID.

Not any more in Harris County as of 3/1/2017. AG Ogg changed the law all by herself. What could possibly go wrong? Democrats gone wild in Harris County.

I think we should concentrate our efforts on tightening things up for future elections. Sure, go after people/groups/officials who did massive fraud... but don't waste time on the single cases. If we spend a ton of effort prosecuting just hundreds of cases then the liberals will say "See, the fraud was extremely limited... just .00001% of the votes". Instead, leave them guessing as to the total numbers.

Use this as a learning experience, and get rock solid laws and procedures before the midterms roll around... nationwide.

Are they all up for automatic deportation? I’d also love to see them go after any criminals who might have knowingly registered invaders to vote, or allowed them to vote once they were registered.
