John Bolton, a former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations who has written for Newsmax Magazine, would be an excellent choice to replace Mike Flynn as President Donald Trump's national security adviser, Sen. Ted Cruz says.
"One person I think would be very, very strong is John Bolton. He's someone who understands the world, he understands the threats of radical Islamic terrorism," the Texas Republican told CNN's Manu Raju on Friday.

Neocons get out.
While serving as UN Ambassador he stood his ground and always put America's interests FIRST. He took no prisoners and he was universally hated and despised by all of the enemies of the United States for always standing up for what was right and just.
He is honest, upright, loyal, intelligent, articulate, extremely well traveled, a staunch supporter of Israel and of America's traditional allies, and he knows how to "play the game" and how to deal with America's enemies.
...oops. Forgot Dina Powell. And keep your eye on Jim Donovan. If he gets in that’ll be 6 Goldman alums.
Don’t reward the neocons for their dirty op against Flynn.
Don’t believe oily Felito on anything.
Do NOT mix dominionists and neocons.
Superb rogues’ gallery there.
Bolton and Trump have butted heads on several major policy matters. Not sure it would work...
I’m curious if Trump could simply reinstate Flynn, since he already passed the approval process.
The good, Bolton has been supportive of Trump from the beginning, he is to be commended on that.
The bad, I like listening to him speak and he obviously is very knowledgeable; but read what Rand Paul wrote about him and read into his history. Then, I get some doubts.
Thank you!
bolton is establishment
I met John Bolton when he spoke at our synagogue and I’ve been following him for years. I don’t know why he wasn’t made Secretary of State, but I’d be happy to have this well-grounded sensible man as National Security Advisor. He knows the score as to foreign powers and is not afraid to call out evildoers.
Allen would be the only one equal to Bolton.
Sorry Alan West does not the depth of experience that John Bolton has.
There is no approval process to be the NSA, it’s an appointed position.
Now if Trump would like to get Joe and Mika back in his corner, maybe he should put Mika’s Father back in as NSA, after all he held that job under Carter.
