David Petraeus will not be replacing Michael Flynn as Donald Trump's next national security adviser.
Trump ousted Flynn on Monday in a controversy over the retired lieutenant general's contacts with Russia.
Petraeus, a retired general and former CIA director, expressed concern about Trump's reluctance to grant the new adviser full discretion over policy and staffing.
On Friday, Petraeus told the Munich Security Conference: 'Whoever it is that would agree to take that position certainly should do so with some very, very significant assurances that he or she would have authorities over the personnel of the organization.
'That there would be a commitment to a disciplined process and procedures,' the Wall Street Journal reported.

I think I will put out a press release that I will not be the first round NFL draft pick because the Rams told me they were looking for a younger person.
Patraeus did something right, once. As for what he did wrong, he cannot be restored. I would be okay to never see his name in the news again, save for an obituary.
By all rights, this should go into Trumps’ WIN LIST tomorrow.
Fake news...that is not why Flynn got fired. There was nothing wrong with his contacting the Russians...this is how the propagandists move the narrative to make the appearance of truth behind the lies they tell...
I think it is quite possible that Ltg. Flynn will be brought back.
If this is what I think it is, he would be great in the job.
I’m with you on Bolton. It’s been so long, we sometimes forget he is a protege of the other Great Lady, Jeanne Kirkpatrick. He knows very well how the present chess game is played.
Good news. Petraeus is not the one for the NSA job for several reasons. And, putting out a list of potential SCOTUS nominees was a good idea. But throwing out a few names for positions such as this only gives some of them a chance to insult the president and it gives the MSM too much time to pick over and speculate about the others.
Just agree privately on a person who wants the job and then announce it.
Kellogg’s appointment is temporary, though he is still in consideration for final appointment.
We don’t want NWO trash.
Duh!!!
I’m not sure Trump needs any advice on the subject. He should just go with his gut. Maybe if Bolton agrees to shave.
and he aligned himself with Gifford/Kelly’s anti second amendment group
Thank God
I don’t want him anywhere near the levers of power ever again.
Who wants this broken down adulterer?
“I heard through the grapevine, Bolton is up...”
Yes, he was on with Lou Dobbs last night and “tap danced” around the issue.
Not tired of winning yet!!!
David has cocktail parties to attend.
