"Countryman worries that the White House is displaying an intent to not rely on the State Department for foreign policy in that no one will be in place to challenge the edicts drawn up in the Oval Office".

********************************************************

Anybody getting a clue why these folks are being let go? Notice the snarky wording, too .... 'edicts' for one.

The State Department is loaded/infested with Arabists .... Bolton & others have said the State Department needs to be cleaned out (think Augean Stables type of mucking) & it looks like that is what Tillerson is doing. The "whining" in the blog & linked CBS article about the WH taking control of policy & having a mostly private meeting with Netanyahu is pathetic. I'm sure Bibi was very happy to have a non-Arabist meeting/dinner with Trump, Kushner & Tillerson.

Definition of "Arabist" per Wikipedia:
As used in modern, mainly American, political discourse, the term Arabist generally refers to a non-Arab observer with experience or specialization in Arabic language and culture, who is perceived to be excessively sympathetic towards Arab political views in relation to the Arab–Israeli conflict. Accusations of bias, and the term's use as a pejorative arose in the United States where "Arabists" in public service, largely in the State Department, were perceived as being "pro-Arab" by pro-Zionist and Jewish organizations and commentators following World War II and in the run-up to the partition of Palestine.

#14 - Augean Stables in Greek mythology, the stables owned by King Augeas that had not been cleaned in 30 years. One of Heracles' tasks was to clean them in one day, which he achieved by diverting two rivers through them.

Good reference. Wonder if the Potomac can be diverted and run through DC.

What a crock! Isn’t the president responsible for foreign policy instead of some bureaucrats?

Let me translate

” if we are not there who’s going to push our agenda? “

State Department has been a subversive organization for many years-often pursuing policies in direct contradiction to policy directives.

Their attitude is we will be here long after the elected and political appointments are gone, and we know better that the new Administration what needs to be done.

In fact, this attitude is rampant through out the Government Bureaucracy and the majority of the people working in DC are Democrats.
