Members of Congress expressed alarm that all undocumented immigrants in the U.S. are at risk of deportation. They said this was made clear to them in a meeting Thursday with a top Immigration and Customs Enforcement official.
There are approximately 11 million unauthorized immigrants in the U.S.
Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chairwoman Michelle Lujan Grisham said that she and other lawmakers left a meeting with ICE Acting Director Tom Homan with a sense that with changes ordered by President Donald Trump through his executive orders, "all immigrant communities are at risk."
Rep. Lucille Roybal-Allard, D-Calif., said in a statement that, "in effect, every undocumented person in America is now vulnerable to arrest and removal as a result of the president's orders."
Jennifer Elzea, an ICE spokeswoman, said in a statement that Homan emphasized in the meeting that ICE "does not conduct arrests indiscriminately" or use checkpoints. Instead, officers target preidentified individuals for arrest at specific locations based on law enforcement leads."
But he also said that when officers encounter individuals in the U.S. in violation of federal immigration laws, they make arrests. "Every arrest is made on a case by case basis," Elzea said.
Rep. Linda Sanchez, a vice chair of the House Democratic Caucus, said that "they said we can and should expect many more arrests and removals this year."

They say it like it's a bad thing
This is what the Left/Rats have done to our beloved nation. It wasn’t long ago when society and most in government expected law enforcement to deport illegal aliens. Now, the status quo around much of the nation and government is to leave the interlopers alone, and in time, make them citizens.
It illustrates how past administrations have corrupted our national mindset.
I say America for Americans. Go Trump!
NBC is trying to present border enforcement as a bad thing. Yea, keep it up..
They say that as if it wasn't the Law of the Land.
Comcast fomenting unrest
Don’t patronize those fomenting unrest.
What are they up to? I quit them a while back
The reckless NBC properties it inherited.
But I have no complaints about the Golf Channel ;)
Illegal, not undocumented. They need to be corrected every time they lie.
The left should not be able to continue framing this ridiculous wet dream of obeying the law only when it doesn’t harm their voter segment (illegals).
Illegal means NOT legal. Never was, never will be until the actual federal statutes are changed. Any politician that thinks these are ‘special circumstances’ and they should be able to violate the laws should get deported with the rest of them.
Hard line it. Make ALL of them - every damn one - fear they could be grabbed at any moment. They need to be fearing the consequences of what their stealing from us are. The more vocal they get, the more they get singled out and picked up on radar. GO HOME!!!!!!
Mal-documented, really.
I doubt that more or less obvious Americans are being badgered for birth certificates, etc.
Illegal, not undocumented. They need to be corrected every time they lie.
..and aliens, not immigrants or residents
You say that as if there was a lot of care right now what the “Law of the Land” is.
IIRC the usual suspects said it couldn't be dome. :)
Hellooooo? That is ONE of the pledges made by candidate Donald John Trump that got him elected in spite of all the lib ‘rats, GOPe and the fake media could do to besmirch and defeat him.
This business of selective law enforcement started with Obama’s refusal to accept the DOMA. We turned a corner when that happened and have been going downhill ever since. A line needs to be drawn here because once you accept borders don’t mean anything you no longer have a country
Trump has made it clear for almost two years that he was going to enforce immigration laws. None of this should be a surprise to these morons.
And start wringing your hands, as illustrated by Congwoman Nasty Pelousy. If you can also squeeze out a few fake tears, as did Sen. Chuck U. Schumer recently, that’s a bonus.
You mean exactly as the law reads? Horrifying!
