GOP Missing the Real Elephant in the Room
The American Thinker ^ | 02/16/17 | Brian C. Joondeph

...Senator Corker asserted, “The base issue is getting to the bottom of what the Russian interference was and what the relationship was with associates of the Trump effort.” The proverbial “elephant in the room” as the senator described it.

He also wondered if the White House would have the ability to, “stabilize itself.” He went further talking about “the American people counting on us to do big things this year.” He did briefly mention intelligence leaks, as a “subissue that needs to be dealt with” using his words. But then reiterated that Russian involvement was the “big issue.”

...Snip...

Senator Corker, and I’m sure many of his colleagues such as senators McCain and Graham, believe the big elephant in the room of General Flynn’s resignation is the Russians. The reality is that the Russians are a sideshow, a distraction from the true elephant in the room -- intelligence agencies spying on American citizens.

The New York Times' big headline this week is, “Trump Campaign Aides Had Repeated Contacts With Russian Intelligence.” How can they know that? The article begins with, “phone records and intercepted calls” between the Trump campaign and Russian intelligence agencies. The campaign officials being U.S. citizens, not to be spied on by the CIA or NSA without cause and warrants.

How could the NY Times have this information? Is the Times tapping phones? Doubtful. Instead it appears that U.S. intelligence agencies are listening in on phone calls and other communications of American citizens. And then passing on the information to friendly news agencies.

...Snip...

Add Corker to the list of Republican halfwits who can't read the writing on the wall. I despise these idiots.

Corker has already demonstrated himself to be a traitor. He needs to be impeached and removed.

This whole fascination with Russia is dangerous. Trump never said he wants to be pals with them. Obama/Hillary are masters of lying about foreign policy and sacrificing American lives to their political ends. It’s all Benghazi.

I agree. I blame Corker and his Senate colleagues for the traitorous Iran deal as much as I blame obama. And I Blame Corker more than the rest of his colleagues.

POS traitor. that ####.

This is bad. I believe impeachment would glide through the senate and hope that not enough house members can be bought.

I know. They need to have a reason. They’ll fabricate evidence if they have to.

Trump has the potential to change the WORLD in a way not seen since WWII.

A lot of rich folk will get hurt and a lot more will go to jail.

I fear for the republic.

The Republicans want to “hide the ball” because the spying on American citizens has been done with their full consent.

If every American knew that simple fact their approval rate would drop below the current 5%. :-)

Corker was obamma’s little golfing buddy and yes boy. He is in lockstep with the TN governor and Rep Black, both were big open Rubio backers. Corker is in it for Corker and not for the people of TN. He needs to be gone and gone yesterday. When is he up for reelection?

"I believe impeachment would glide through the senate"

The Senate holds the trial after the House impeaches.

What a jerkoff.

WOW, and I call that 'cleaned up'!!!

If it helps, the Republicans simply WILL NOT impeach Trump, certainly not at this point. Consider the following:

Ryan was set to grab the nomination from Trump at the convention...but couldn’t because he knew that Trump would take his 50+ percent of the Republican Party with him if he were kicked out - which meant that Pelosi and Shumer would be running Congress now for Hillary, and by HUGE margins, if Ryan tried that stunt (and trust me, he wanted to).

Nothing has changed on that. If Republicans come for Trump, the party is DOOMED in 2018 and forever after. They know it, which is why they make loud noises but know enough to NEVER speak impeachment...not yet, not even close yet.

In order to take down Trump, the Republicans (and the media) must first sever the bond Trump has with his supporters...if we are sick of Trump, then Trump can be taken down without destroying other elected Republicans. I don’t see any sign of that yet. But if Trump were to turn left on us, then yes, his survival as president would be in question.
