The Trump administration has offered the job of White House national security adviser, vacated by former U.S. intelligence official Michael Flynn, to Vice Admiral Robert Harward, said two U.S. officials familiar with the matter on Wednesday.
It was not immediately clear if Harward, a former deputy commander of U.S. Central Command who has Navy SEAL combat experience, had accepted the offer, according to sources.
A White House spokesperson had no immediate comment.

Thanks for the definition. Yipes!
Ditto.
Putting out “good news” through your back channel is a time-honored tradition.
This is good news. A Navy SEAL with international life experience and a stellar record of service to our Republic.
All aboard!!!
Yes! Pull these weeds up by the roots, and quickly!
Obama and his administration has left the world an extremely dangerous place. I like that Harward seems a realist. I don’t like that he is coming out of the military industrial complex, I don’t like that Flynn was forced to resign. I have my fingers crossed Trump has again made a great selection. Time will tell.
Could be the NSA, since they monitor all of us, including our president, and they do get a government paycheck.
Apparently, everyone is going to have to go to encryption.
It may have been an “unofficial” release of good news to counter the damaging leaks?
Someone in the know tells me that Harward is a Hell of a fine officer. SEAL, and a model one.
He Worked with Mattis before on very amicable terms. Not many ribbons - he’s no glory hound.
Most importantly from a national security point of view - he was on the Joint inter-agency task force -— that’s not just the branches of the service, but the spooks as well.
He speaks all the languages needed, if you’ll pardon the euphemism.
“Apparently, everyone is going to have to go to encryption.”
Well, we know what’s going to happen. The gubmint’ will just lean on encryption companies like the private forum which locked the online convos of Snowden. The forum was encryption-proof that they had to send agents to meet the forum owner and the belief was that the poor guy handed over the encryption keys after some “bullying’..
He’s working on some secure stuff for journalists - software - and said the other day he’s not afraid to come home now.
Trump could bring him home under the guise of house arrest for interrogation until his trial... then he could travel privately around.
Thinking back to Flynn, his timing concerning the putting or Iran on notice probably wasn't the greatest - may have played a role in Trump losing some confidence in him?
I have high confidence in Trump's ability to make great picks, and correct mistakes in a timely manner. That said, I think we live at a very dangerous time in history and there is is just so much any one person can do. Our real hope would be for this nation to turn back to God. :)
Private encryption is better than no encryption.
“Private encryption is better than no encryption.”
There’s a certain VPN located in the Netherlands which starts with M. I use it to download on torrent. Their instruction is “send us $$ with your return address” and i sent them $20. One week later I got a letter with the password and log in. Old school style..
the reason? Any info sent electronically is monitored by the ENESEY.
Understood.
The truth is that there are very few I’d need to encrypt with, but the patriot in me would do it for every communication just to tweak the bastards.
Two Great Americans
This may be an issue. It’s rumored that the Admiral once drank Stolichnaya vodka purchased from a Russian owned liquor store in NJ.
What does the NSA have on him?
Better, what does he have on the NSA, and who, and does he know how to kill someone with his bare hands? ;)
Admirals are Navy or Coastie!
Seals are Navy!
Too bad. He’s no good.
