A grassroots movement that seems to be a response to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcements ongoing sting known as Operation Cross Check, as well as to the Trump administration, has called on people to unite in protest. A Spanish-language flier that has circulated in Austin and on social media calls on the undocumented, residents, citizens and immigrants from all over the world to boycott work, opening their businesses for the day, buying gasoline, attending class and more.

1) What a bunch of ninnies using any excuse to skip class. 2) You don't show up to work at most jobs, expect to get fired. 3) People will take their money and eat somewhere else. Thanks for telling us, including ICE, you hire illegals. With such open hearts to illegals, are you paying your employees, illegal and legal, for the day?
El Borrego de Oro, 3900 S. Congress Ave.
Kyoten Sushiko, 4600 Mueller Blvd. #1035
Sweet Sweet Co.
Taqueria los Jaliscienses, 1815 W. Ben White Blvd.
Takoba
El Milagro Tortillas
A day without illegals is like a day without food poisoning.
Let’s give those restaurants a “day without diners”!
Yes,thanks for alerting ICE.
Are they going to take that day off from robbing, stealing, raping and murdering? Are they NOT going to get drunk and mutilate an American citizen with their hoopty truck? Are they gonna take a day off from the emergency room with the kiddies’ sniffles, etc.? Are they gonna keep their kiddies home from school so we don’t have to feed them? Not use their EBT/SNAP cards, not use their ObamaPhones?
I’m sure they can get the drift. They’re smart enough to figure out how to rob us blind from all our citizenship benefits and entitlements....
F@ck Them.
Excellent idea!
What a great idea! Should make it a lot easier to identify illegal aliens.
I thought that when they tried this in LA, traffic improved immensely!
So the restaurant doesn't take in any revenue and the immigrant worker doesn't get paid. Who is this supposed to hurt, exactly????
They did this shortly after the First MayDay Riot in Los Angeles, the TV Stations, Radio Stations, and the Newspapers were inundated with Calls and Letters thanking them and encouraging them to do it EVERYDAY.
ALL THE NORMAL GRIDLOCK TRAFFIC WAS GONE AS A RESULT. I personally drove from the USC Law School to Marina Del Rey in 15 Minutes and changed lanes 4 times, just because I could.
Illegals cost us $120 billion per year on the federal state and local level.
Glad to see ya go!
Exactly! Change the name to Self-Identify / Self-Deport Day.
The immigrants working illegally are not a problem, and these people know it. This is a deliberate distortion.
The problem is from the people who have no right to be here, or who reject the American way of life. They should not be here.
I remember the Day without Mexicans they did a few years ago.
All I noticed was less traffic and fewer delays in stores.
Win/win.
Will participants also forgo their daily handout from US taxpayers?
Will Mexican restaurant workers join Staten Island business boycott? (Nationwide?)

I say do it!
looks like ICE has a new list of establishments that hire illegals
Enjoy, Austin. They did a Day Without Mexicans in LA a few years ago and the freeways were so wonderful they never did it again.
I was on the 105 that day too, amazing! I bet even the 10 was drivable!!
