Now Kremlin weighs into Michael Flynn furore

Now Kremlin weighs into Michael Flynn furore saying Trump's National Security Adviser DIDN'T discuss lifting Russian sanctions in call with ambassador

Flynn is currently being investigated by the FBI for his December phone call

He allegedly promised an easing of sanctions imposed by Obama that same day

If proved, he was illegally speaking to a foreign nation as a private citizen

Flynn denied claims, but later said he 'couldn't be certain' the topic wasn't raised

If Flynn did make the promise, he could face a fine or jail under the Logan Act

The Kremlin has weighed in on the Michael Flynn furore by saying Donald Trump's National Security Adviser did not discuss lifting Russian sanctions in a call with the ambassador.

Flynn allegedly held secretive phone calls with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak before Trump stepped into the Oval Office in which he promised the easing of sanctions imposed by Barack Obama.

If he did, that would put him in breach of the 1799 Logan Act, which bans private citizens from negotiating with foreign powers that are in dispute with the US.

But Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Flynn and Kislyak had not discussed sanctions on Moscow in the phone call as the Kremlin announced Vladimir Putin and Trump could meet before the G20 summit in July.

Only one person has ever been indicted for violation of the Logan Act and that was in 1803. No conviction. As always, shouting “Logan Act!” is an idle threat. Carry on, Flynn.

Love it - Russia is more honest than the LSM - and working on a positive relationship with Trump because they’re glad to have adults in charge over here.

Flynn wasn’t a private citizen but the NSA designee. Just like Trump had conversations with world leaders as President-elect. I don’t see anything wrong with it. The perfidious and deceitful globalist elements trying to neutralize and take down Trump have been successful in making otherwise reasonable people believing this manufactured BS. Fortunely we have a guy like Trump in there who knows it’s complete BS and will stick by his principles and what’s right for America. Flynn is the biggest threat to the globalist Deep Staters because he was inside at the highest levels and knows their game. I can recall Michael Ledeen, super neo-con and co-author of Flynn’s book, defending Flynn against the BS lies over a year ago!

This was part of Obama’s last minute flurry of activity designed to poison the well and salt the earth for Trump. Obama’s Russia foreign policy was what exactly? Who knows? From the 80s calling to get its foreign policy back, to the more flexibility after the election, to the removal of our missile defenses in eastern Europe, to doing NOTHING in response to Russia annexing the crimea and invading the Ukraine, to the last minute attempt about a month before Trump takes office to decide to now get tough on Russia and maybe provoke Russia into some type of conflict. Remember these sanctions were put in place in response to fake story #207 on why Hillary lost the election. Trying to undermine the Trump administration on a daily basis is probably more problematic to our national security than anything else.

Given the backdrop of tensions between the previous administration and Russia, and the threats of sanctions, Flynn’s pre-inauguration contacts with Kislyak were problematic in my view, and he should have seen that. But I understand and respect your argument.

Unfortunately, the politically motivated fire storm is not only bad for Flynn but also for Trump. I’m not so sure Flynn is out of the woods on this yet as some administration officials clearly have concerns about him.

That said, I’m with you on defeating the globalists.

Obama was a disaster in every way, right up to the end. Our foreign policy is in shambles, but clarity and sanity are once again driving it now that Trump is in office.

Please see my #24. Thanks.

Carry on, Flynn.

*************

Regrettably, its now looking more and more like Flynn lied to the Vice President of the United States. And even worse, the political damage is being compounded because Pence defended him in public. Sadly, this has become a major problem and a serious distraction for the new administration.

If this is in fact true, Flynn has to go. He cannot be allowed to mislead the VP. It would diminish Pence’s stature and that cannot be tolerated.

You mean a need to know (as they say in the IC)? Whatever, its been reported that Flynn has apologized to Pence and the administration has not been strongly denying it.

This whole episode is really a shame as Trump doesn’t need this kind of distraction early on in his nascent administration. It puts him in a terrible situation.

I appreciate your point but the story is getting worse by the moment. See Drudge.

Flynn is becoming a political liability and you know what happens when that occurs. My concern is its impact on Trump and how the Left is capitalizing on the story.

Like I said last night before Flynn resigned, once you become a political liability in DC you’re gone, even if some of your actions were defensible. You could sense he was on his way out.

Unfortunately this is a significant political victory for the Left as well as the GOPe who want to deflate Trump. And the games are only beginning. The Swamp in DC is very deep.
