An approach not dissimilar to St Thoams Aquinas. It takes TIME and EFFORT to successfully bring immigrants into a society and a culture. We need a pause, purge and THEN time & effort to help those who we allow to remain to become Americans.

Possible. I’d have to see the legal language. Referendums put to the citizens ALWAYS mislead, obfuscate or lie.

To me, categorical permanent ineligibility of these ‘citizens’ would be NO CHAIN IMMIGRATION, period. Otherwise what is the purpose of such stringent constraints on THEIR admittance?

Americans might be agreeable to accept "refugees" if they integrated better: adopted American values, spoke English, admired our ideals, educated themselves, wore western garb, worked hard to be financially independent, endorsed our freedoms, decried religious repression, and stopped trashing our beliefs.

Maybe then we could respect and even embrace them.

If it proves to not be so sensible in reality will they use the phrase “Klaatu barada nikto” to stop Muslim terrorism?

“do not depend on state aid”. . .sounds like a great idea for voting eligibility, born here or not.
