The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) made its largest lease sale in four years, marking the start of President Donald Trumps plans to expand drilling on federal lands.
BLM sold drilling rights on 278 parcels of public land for $129.3 million. Bids ranged from $2 per acre to $16,500 per acre. The land sold was mostly located in Wyoming about half of which is directly controlled by the federal government.

Will this be the start of Trump’s long-awaited energy independent program?
Please Mr. President, start the program that will truly MAGA for good.
Need a sticker of Sarah Palin giving the thumbs up to slap on every vehicle at each of those sites!
But the microwaves will kill the endangered green spotted ground worms...!/sarcam!
Stopped trying to destroy family cattle ranches, have they?
3 second popcorn. Just sayin’. BOOM! Shack-a-lack-uh.
Sad but true.
>Using microwaves to cook oil shale would cause the petroleum to condense and boil to the surface<
.
It would cause the petroleum to VAPORIZE.(just like in refinery operations).
Wouldn't "boiling it to the surface" contaminate the water table above it? Or do you mean heating it in place and piping it to the surface?
That’s a big deal. And if there is anything that can fulfill the motto of “Make America Great Again” it is unlocking the pursuit of that wealth. What I mean by that is that the USA can become energy independent, and it can drive down the price of oil that is used by many of the evil players in the world. We could destroy the economies of some of the most malevolent and most authoritarian ones by driving oil prices down. Putin, Iran, and Saudis, Venezuelan Marxist, etc. all need to wake up. OPEC can be finished.
Cynthia on the horn uh yeah-eh...
“... microwaves cause the petroleum to condense and boil ...”

That statement makes no sense to me.
This has been ongoing source of anger for me. We could have been totally energy independent years ago. But the alliance between the rats, the rinos, and the e-wackos have hobbled us at every turn. can’t drill, can’t transport, can’t explore, can’t build refineries. Meanwhile
the oil money props up the worst regimes in the world. Then
they want to force to drive golf carts. Madness absolute madness.
The article didn’t go into that much detail.
I envisioned it being up through the ground comes a-bubblin’ crude, but then I did watch a lot of Beverly Hillbillies.
It was definitely heating the shale in place underground to free the oil. But they’d have to something to collect it somehow, like drill shafts.
As I read it, the microwaves heat up the shale enough to make the petroleum separate out and liquefy.
Income Tax, Popular Senate, Women’s Vote Amendments were all communist machinations. (The fellow travelers did not care about women anymore than they cared about blacks; they cared that 50% of the population could then be reliably used to vote left far more greatly and far more consistently than the male 50%.)
Having said that, I agree with you:
Both the Civil Rights movement and the Global Cooling/Warming/Changing movement are Redistribution schemes on a very grand scale.
Since CR is national while GC/W/C is international, I reluctantly choose the latter as the winner.
>it can drive down the price of oil<
.
Which would further depress the domestic oil industry?
God forbid.
Future Of Fracking Could Be Beaming Up Oil With Microwaves
From the article:
"Microwave fracking would zap shale formations with a beam as powerful as 500 household microwave ovens to release the valuable oil or gas. Experts estimate the first microwave fracking systems could be deployed in the field by 2017 and start producing oil by the end of that year."
It is a tough call.
Do you really fear that? I know there are trade offs. I know that a lot of the markets reacted badly when oil prices began to drop, and certainly many new US oil businesses - fracking and shale - took big hits. Thoughts?
Wow! Even better!
And if they get good enough at it, maybe they can separate some of the components on site as they come up, like at a refinery.
