The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) made its largest lease sale in four years, marking the start of President Donald Trump’s plans to expand drilling on federal lands.
BLM sold drilling rights on 278 parcels of public land for $129.3 million. Bids ranged from $2 per acre to $16,500 per acre. The land sold was mostly located in Wyoming — about half of which is directly controlled by the federal government.

I just read an article on “microwave fracking” in the February Newsmax magazine is.
Microwave fracking shoots microwaves into the ground to heat up oil shale and boil the petroleum to the surface.
So none of the wastewater and chemical concerns of conventional fracking.
It’s still in the experimental stage, but it looks really promising, even more than conventional fracking.
And the greenies couldn’t complain about water contamination.

And we need to keep it “pristine”...?? So we can look at how pretty it is? or what...?
How about we just keep 99.9% of it “pristine”?
The article said the microwave beam they’re now using for it is 500 times more powerful than a kitchen microwave.
Kudos! Drill baby drill! Energy independence will be a boon for us and the world! Oil prices will tank (benefitting other economies except the oil producers)but US companies will sell more of their own.
this is great news of course, now how about giving Utah its
land back which Obongo stole on his way out.
The global warming/environmental movement is perhaps the biggest Communist front group in US history.
(I put “perhaps” because maybe you could make an argument for the civil rights movement in all its phases.)
My understanding is that the microwaves are only used to break the initial stone to get to the oil. I don’t think they are microwaving cubic miles of stone for its oil.
Wow, imagine putting just one kernel of corn in the microwave and getting a full bucket of crisp, hot, fluffy popcorn.
Sounds like an excellent funding source for a border wall!

Given our mountain of debt, I really don’t think increasing our GDP growth rate alone will solve the debt problem.
We need to drill every single bit of federal land and use the proceeds to try to control our enormous debt.
Here’s what the article says:
“Scientists believe they can transmit microwave energy down a shaft and into the ground to zap oil shale deposits with energy, heating them up. Using microwaves to cook oil shale would cause the petroleum to condense and boil to the surface without high-pressure injections... as the heat drives oil to the surface, ‘the rock basically becomes transparent’ to the microwave beam, enabling it to penetrate deeper.”
The article is “New Microwave Technology May Out-frack Fracking.”
Perhaps it’s posted at the newsmax.com website. I was too lazy to check. I have the magazine and typed the above quote (whch was more work than linking duh).
And we need a lot of popcorn to watch liberal heads explode under Trump!
