Texas Sen. Ted Cruz earned the praise of some fierce Democratic detractors this week when he opted to stop at a Fort Worth demonstration and talk to those protesting.
The group of about a dozen individuals toting signs critical of Donald Trumps education secretary nominee caught Cruzs attention as he made his way to catch a flight to D.C.
Local Democratic Party leader Leah Payne said she was surprised by the conservative senators willingness to interact personally with protesters.

Good for Ted. This could be the way to shut the whiners up.
Surprisingly, Leah exhibits some brain cell activity that is normally flatlined in the nominal Demonicrat Party zombie.
1. Push for defunding Planned Parenthood.
2. Nominate the best people for his Cabinet positions.
3. Be nice to Ted.
So, far it is looking real good.
Cruz would be a SCOTUS justice we wouldn’t have to worry about.
I agree, but don’ know if Cruz has said he’d be interested in being SCOTUS.
Ted might not have been swayed by them, but he could have given them food for thought just by engaging them.
One must remember five years ago when there were Ted and a hand full of others speaking up for us. The people bad mouthing him should recall he was fighting for us when President Trump was still bankrolling democrats!!!
If this is true My bet many/most/all but one of the dozens there wouldn't know who Ted Cruz is.
Did he tell them she was a good pick and why? The article says he thanked them for protesting.
Fake news?
Dems and Protesters are surprised because they would never do the same. Nows not the time to play nice! Because of these libs, my family is in danger with these open borders, crime has run rampant, movies and shows are sex filled disgusting displays, and gays can now marry. I have no regard for them and would not give them the time of day. But that’s me.
No, it won’t shut the whiners up. Nothing anyone can or will say will shut them up.
I was all in for Cruz initially. Then I realized that his original platform, on which he launched his presidential bid, didn’t address the wide open border, illegal-invader crime, or our loss of national sovereignty.
It is the way to shut them up -- if you have the debating skills to lead them to sink themselves -- which Cruz obviously does.
There must be video around somewhere of the event where Cruz actually invited Code Pink protestors up to the mike, let them speak -- and then so devastatingly buried them with truth and logic that they, in embarrassment, slinked off the stage -- and left the event!
Fake news, or DID he thank them for protesting? Absalom backstabbing his father David, by schmoozing with the folks, comes to mind.
Ted is coming back in my opinion - I think he finally resolved the disappointment of being edged out and is back to doing what he does best.
They were shocked he didn’t sock anybody in the nose or hurl any F-bombs. Because on their side, that’s what’s considered “having a conversation.”
No, he did a good thing here and he has actually done a lot to protect President Trumps back.
Cruz or in general, a Conservative Evangelical would make a good Supreme Court Justice. The bench is too unbalanced, with the Ivy league, etc. The Court should reflect somewhat, the fabric of this nation.
Yeah, listen with an empathetic look on your face. :-)
They just need a good therapist.
Whiners?
Who is whining here?
I’m addressing the consummate dickhead that couldn’t have cared less if Hillary Clinton won or not last year.
I’m addressing the guy that didn’t care if she got two-four chances to nominate new SCOTUS justices.
I’m addressing a guy that didn’t give a damn what she would have done to our military.
I’m addressing a guy that didn’t care if she was selling her services for hundreds of millions of dollars for her fake spouse and family foundation, read that for her own pockets.
I’m addressing a guy that couldn’t grasp the damage she would inflicted on this nation with the FBI and CIA she had corrupted.
I’m addressing a guy who couldn’t grasp what $10 trillion dollars more of deficit spending would have done to our nation.
I’m addressing an idiot that couldn’t grasp we would do nothing to get 50 million or more of our citizens back to work.
I’m addressing a guy who couldn’t grasp that another ten million plus illegal immigrants would have entered our nation, with the resulting death and destruction they would have caused.
I’m addressing a guy that didn’t have the tools to grasp Hillary and the Left wanted war with Russia.
I’m addressing a guy who didn’t care if the overt anti-White racism was supported and blossomed even more over the next four years, BLM and universities on a rampage.
I’m addressing a guy so incredibly stupid he thought paid protesters were Trump’s fault. And this is a guy folks think would use that aptitude for good judgement to make decisions on the Supreme Court. I’ve got two words on that. Glenn Beck. Good judgement?
Who is whining? The poor folks that think overlooking all this serves Conservatism well, and are upset that someone will not lie to them about what Tead’s treachery really amounted to last year.
Now after not being able to grasp all that, Ted wants us to believe he really gets it.
Take a good look at him right now. When it comes to his re-election in 2018, Ted is pulling out all the stops to convince folks he’s an amazing Conservative. Now that’s an important election. November 8th, 2016, not important at all to Tead.
Yes Tead is an amazing Conservative, if he thinks he is one, because he was a man who couldn’t have cared less last year if Hillary Clinton was in the process of destroying our nation right now.
Tead destroyed himself last year.
No amount of blaming those who remember clearly what Tead did last year and remind others of it, or whining about it will undo that.
