As President Donald Trump searches for ways to cut costs at the White House, he has set his sights on the first ladys office.
Trump is considering reducing the number of jobs in that office, which has grown to up to 20 employees in recent administrations, according to three people with knowledge of the situation who were not authorized to speak publicly about the deliberations.
Anita McBride, who served in the last three Republican White Houses, including as chief of staff to former first lady Laura Bush, said any potential cutbacks might be consistent with the limited number of projects that first lady Melania Trump had indicated she wanted to pursue.
There is no right way or wrong way to do it, said McBride, who is executive in residence at the Center for Congressional and Presidential Studies at American University in Washington. Theres no statutory authority for the first lady. You write the job description as you come in.

A large staff for a “first lady” is waste.
Mooschelle didn’t have any class or know how to deal with social situations, so she had a huge staff to (a) hide that and (b) give her cronies fancy jobs.
To help with keeping the WH staff costs down, I will volunteer to act as the FLOTUS’ personal trainer. Keeping her in shape would be my patriotic duty...
Does that include the Reagan, Bush 41, and Bush 43 administrations too?

Melania will need a couple people to do writing and English language stuff for her. And PR people to get the word out for her program against bullying. She should set an example of cutting waste.

Melania seems pretty level headed. All the other back to Pat Nixon have been nut cases or one sort or another, except for Rosalyn Carter.
I was in shock when I read that Mrs. Obama had 34 assistants .. or a number close to that .. because Laura Bush had 3.
And, I suspect the new President will revert back to something more like what Laura Bush did.
After all, Melania speaks 5 languages; making her more than capable of surviving with a fairly small staff.
Face it, FLOTUS does not need a press secretary, scheduler, advance staff, photographer, social secretary, gardener, chef, personal trainer and protocol staff. She could probably do fine with someone to answer the phone and make appointments, while the balance can be handled by others already on the staff of POTUS or VPOTUS.
She attended cabinet meetings which was shocking.
Melania would rather spend her time being an attentive mother and wife than staying up all night running rap raves, twerking contests and bong parties in the White House.
