Trump hits Blumenthal for Gorsuch comment claims, Vietnam 'lie'

President Trump on Thursday struck back at Sen. Richard Blumenthal a day after the Connecticut Democrat leaked alleged details of a conversation he had with Trump’s Supreme Court pick.

Blumenthal on Wednesday told reporters that Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch said previous comments made by Trump about a federal judge were “demoralizing” and “disheartening.”

“Sen. Richard Blumenthal, who never fought in Vietnam when he said for years he had (major lie), now misrepresents what Judge Gorsuch told him?” Trump tweeted.

-------

The supposed comments from Gorsuch to Blumenthal came in response to Trump’s tweet calling a federal judge a “so-called judge.” That judge had suspended Trump’s immigration restriction executive order.

But White House sources told Fox News that, while Gorsuch had indeed used the words "disheartening" and "demoralizing" during his meeting with Blumenthal, he was not specifically talking about Trump's public spat with the federal judge, and was instead speaking in generalities about attacks on the judiciary.

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway wouldn't comment on whether Trump and Gorsuch had spoken in the past day, however, she told "Fox & Friends" on Thursday that "the president is fully confident in Judge Gorsuch."

Former Sen. Kelly Ayotte, who is aiding Gorsuch as he speaks with senators, released a statement Thursday morning clarifying the comments Gorsuch made to Blumenthal.

"Judge Gorsuch has made it very clear in all of his discussions with senators, including Senator Blumenthal, that he could not comment on any specific cases and that judicial ethics prevent him from commenting on political matters," Ayotte said. "He has also emphasized the importance of an independent judiciary, and while he made clear that he was not referring to any specific case, he said that he finds any criticism of a judge's integrity and independence disheartening and demoralizing.”

Gorsuch may have been thinking of the faces of the USSC Justices during obama’s State of the Union speech when Obama derided the Court and attacked their integrity ( except Bader Ginsburg who was napping)

As I recall Alito skipped attending the next year

News was spread all over that Gorsuch was coming out against the President. It was all a lie started by Blumenthal.

Blumenthal lied about Gorsuch the same as he lied about being a veteran of Vietnam.

Blumenthal is a liar.

A two bit federal judge in Washington without standing, ties up the presidency of the United States. The 9th Circuit court will uphold it, and show again that, yes... these are “so-called judges” that know no more about the law than a fifth grader.

This country is in worse shape than we thought possible, and to boot we have a do nothing bunch of Republican Senators that aren’t helping the matter either.

Here is obama attacking the USSC during his state of the Union address
Their faces... Alito mouths the word “ lie”

Yet the left wants to go apeshit over a Trump tweet about an overreaching lower court judge?

It’s unclear if Gorsuch was upset about what Trump said or that it NEEDED to be said.

[Former Sen. Kelly Ayotte, who is ‘aiding’ Gorsuch as he speaks with senators...]

Ayotte has been described as both a conservative Republican and a centrist. After her 2010 election, the Associated Press referred to Ayotte as “a conservative Republican” and two years later, NBC News described her “unique identity in the Senate as a Northeastern conservative Republican woman.”[95][96][97][98] [Since her election she has demonstrated more centrist tendencies in her voting record, including working with Democrats on some issues.] [99][100][101] The Lugar Center at Georgetown University ranked Ayotte as the 11th most bipartisan member of the U.S. Senate during the 113th Congress.[102]

Sending a bipartisan and a Centrist to ‘aid’ Gorsuch falls far short of common sense when trying to promote and advise one of President Trumps most important nominees.

If the judge made a truly ridiculous, politically motivated ruling then why shouldn’t people including the President criticize him for it.

It appears to me that it was a ridiculous ruling. We can’t have judges behaving like that.
