62 year-old ‘Peace Mother’ sentenced to 8 years in Turkey

28 January 2017 10:26
Sultan Azboy, member of Peace Mothers Movement

Sultan Azboy, a member of the ‘Peace Mothers’, has been sentenced to eight years and nine months in prison for allegedly being a member of an illegal organisation.

Sultan Azboy reacted to the decision and said, “I stand for peace and they call me a terrorist. I didn’t take up arms against anyone. I didn’t shoot anyone. I am a peace mother. I am 62 years old and they have sentenced me just for participating in protests for peace. I will continue my struggle for peace even if they kill me or jail me. I will continue the struggle for peace.”

The Peace Mothers is a women’s civil rights movement in Turkey founded in 1999, which aims to promote peace between Turkey’s different ethnic groups through non-violent means.

Totally Insane.

Our NATO "ally" has lost it's mind. Now, anyone who is critical of Er_DOG_an is going to jail on the slightest offense.

He removed 90% of his military officers because of a "coup" attempt. (Looks like he was building the list a long time)

He has engineered changes to the Turkish Constitution which effectively makes him a Dictator.

He jailed all the Opposition Politicians and families. (many were Kurds)

When he invades Syria, on pretense of destroying his past friends ISIS, he gets bogged down in Al Bab. He destroys most of the city into rubble. He kills far more Syrian citizens than he does ISIS. Then he blames the US for not giving him enough air support? Nuts. Totally over the top NUTS!

You ask why he is bogged down in Syria? Remember he removed or killed 90% of his experienced officers. Is it surprising that they lost a lot of heavy armor to ISIS? Oh, remember they are the same ISIS that Obama, Erdogan and Hillary armed with shoulder launch missiles?

When the SDF (contains some Kurd soldiers) moves into Raqqa to destroy the headquarters for ISIS in Syria, his response? He bombs Kurd villages who threatened nobody. He is trying to provoke a returned fire as pretense to invade more Syrian territory.

It is time the DOG is housebroken.

The Turkish Republic has always aggressively suppressed its critics.

Why would anyone expect sanity from a moslem country?

Until Erdogan gained total control of Turkey, since WWI Turkey has been a secular state where the Muslim extremes were checked in place by the Turkish military.

Now Erdgoan is effectively the Dick Tator and has purged the military after the alleged “coup” disaster.

This will end badly for Turkey.

Prior to Erdogan the Turkish military chained the Islamist elements.

Since the military purge, that balance is gone.

Yes, that’s true. However, that doesn’t change the fact that, from its inception, the Turkish Republic has aggressively suppressed its critics.

My point is that there’s nothing novel, in Turkey, about anyone with opposition, no matter how mild or peaceable, being jailed.

From end of WWI no Turkish leader has had such unchained power as Erdogan currently does. He is effectively Dictator.

In the past opponents of the will of the military were targeted. Now, it is opponents of Erdogan who are targeted for any reason.

He even got bloggers and journalist extradited from the EU for criticism of him. Even if the criticism is totally true, they are arrested.

This is Totalitarianism in strongest form.

Erdogan cannot be blamed for the EU’s decision to surrender to demands.

Erdogan is an egotistic Islamist bastard.

He has trapped Europe with this immigration crap. He has been the conduit of the poison pill that will kill the EU.

The EU POLs are bought just like those in the US, by foreign money and power.

I'd really like to see that backed up by a source. Got link?

there is another, if I can find it:

Maxime Azadi about the indicment: The threat of extradition to Turkey still hangs over me. http://www.fairpress.eu/blog/2017/01/15/maxime-azadi-indicment-threat-extradition-turkey-still-hangs/

A warrant for the arrest of Kurdish journalist, Maxime Azadi, in Brussels which was issued by Interpol on Turkey’s request at the end of last year (December 15)
