President Trump said Sunday that it could take sometime into next year until his ObamaCare replacement plan is ready, a slower timetable than he and other Republicans have put forward in the past.
Fox Newss Bill OReilly asked Trump in an interview before the Super Bowl if Americans can expect a new healthcare plan rolled out by the Trump Administration this year.
Yes, in the process and maybe itll take till sometime into next year but were certainly going to be in the process, Trump replied. You have to remember Obamacare doesnt work so we are putting in a wonderful plan, he added.
It statutorily takes a while to get. Were going to be putting it in fairly soon, I think that yes I would like to say by the end of the year at least the rudiments but we should have something within the year and the following year.
In contrast, last month, Trump said he would be putting forward a plan shortly after his nominee for Health and Human Services Secretary, Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.), is approved by the Senate, a far faster timetable.

Absolutely. It would be political suicide. While perhaps popular on this forum, it would not be so overall. The media would have a field day with stories of people who have lost their health insurance and are struggling. Trump shattered the blue wall, but don’t think these working class voters who voted for Trump will stick around if it’s not replaced.
Exactly. It’s not easy. Now part of it is I blame the Republicans in Congress for not having a suitable plan ready. They tried to repeal it multiple times while Obama was in office. That said, it must be done correctly. If it isn’t done correctly, the Republicans will own it. Better to do it slowly and do it right than do it quickly and do it wrong.
The GOP risks relegating itself to PERMANENT minority status if they fail to follow through with this incessant promise, quickly and completely.
“We’ll defund it when we have the House.”
“We’ll repeal as soon as we have the Senate.”
“We’ll repeal as soon as we regain the White House.”
Americans are sick of this bait and switch.
It has to be replaced. Many are saying tax cuts should come before obamacare fix.
Where does it say the federal government should provide health care for every single person in the country?
And if you think about it, health care isn't a necessity. Necessities like food, shelter or clothing ought to come first, if we're going to do this. Should the feds have programs paid for by the taxpayers to provide those?
Get rid of Obamacare. Let the market take care of the rest.
So much for getting it done in a few weeks.
Repeal, do not replace. How hard is that?
Lots of concern trolls wringing their hands about the “what ifs” - amazing they don’t have nervous breakdowns and become Democrats so they have an excuse for always being on edge.
Here is my take on it.
They could repeal and replace in no time flat given Oboingocare was a trailer on an existing bill and if Mitch has the cohones all it will take is 51 votes in the Senate to do it, provided he stands up the Smucky and stops his parliamentary tricks.
So why the year? I think he is hinting to the marketplace coming up with new policies ( that are contracts) that will be a greater array of options instead of the Gold, Silver, Bronze BS, and that is for starters. A national High Risk pool is another component to cover pre-existing conditions. That is two details off the top of my head that are logistical in relation to products/regulations that need to be developed to make the new system actually work.
Given President Trump had to get teams to sequence concrete, steel etc in the the ballet that is building a high-rise, I have confidence the Executive Branch can get their part done. Congress and the Senate? Not so much....
The Democrat strategy:
"To win we must not just generate understanding, but emotionfear, revulsion, anger, disgust" says Creamer.
This is the same Robert Creamer involved in Clinton's campaign and whose nefarious deeds were exposed by Project Veritas videos.
A free market plan would involve massive reform of the patent system (patents are inheritantly anti-capitalist and frankly being abused to hell in the US) and allow re-importation of drugs and medical equipment and require pricing posted for every procedure for every medical provider in the country. Not one republican has ever suggested we do that.
The problem is a real free market solution would crash the medical industry for a year or two - patent reform, re-importation of drugs and medical equipment, pricing transparency, enforcing the sherman anti-trust laws, etc. The medical industry will fight those tooth and nail but that is what has to happen if you want to provide healthcare for everyone.
The vast majority of those 15% were young adults who don’t/didn’t need/want it and illegal immigrants. The small % of rest were already being covered through cash payments and judicial system forcing hospitals to care for people regardless of ability to pay with only a real handful falling through the cracks.
If there is to be a GRAND replacement - Trumpcare, then taking a year to get the replacement RIGHT is fine with me.
Remembering past Grand bills Congress has produced in the past, welfare & education programs come to mind, they can easily make a bad situation worse, while filling any such bill with a bulk carrier full of pork.
However, the individual mandate & its tax penalty can be repealed immediately. The tax on medical devices can also be repealed. Other aspects of Obamacare can also be repealed & replaced.
I favor a piecemeal approach to eradicating Obamacare. I don’t trust a Republican Congress to produce a grand plan any better than did the Democrats.
Furthermore, Trumpcare will be a huge & easy target for the Left, whereas, piecemeal replacement will force them to argue with common sense proposals, such as one allowing people to buy health insurance across state lines or to tailor their insurance to their needs.
And what do people who are in the middle of treatment do now? So you want to send millions of people out not knowing what to do? Again, I don’t believe anything I read right now. 50% of it is meant to dispirit us. Like this.,
There ought to be consequences for bad decisions. Take care of yourself and get right with God and God will take care of you. Don’t expect the government to steal my money to take care of you. The government is not intended to be a forced charity that uses guns to keep the “donations” rolling in.
There is no reason that repeal of ACA must coincide with a replacement plan. The requirement that there be a replacement simultaneous with repeal is a Democrat talking point. The Republicans use this as an excuse to avoid repeal.
The current enrollment period began November 1, 2016 and it ended January 31, 2017 (https://www.healthcare.gov/quick-guide/dates-and-deadlines/). Enrollment lasts for a year and at the expiry of the enrollment you can change your plan or re-enroll.
There is no reason why the current enrollment period can not be the final enrollment period. That degree or part of repeal can be passed today.
Then you have the issue of Opioid propaganda. There are 1.33 Million Chronic pain patients, from ICC bladder disease, OA/OP, Fibromyalgia, cancer, Peripheral Neuropathy, spinal degeneration, botched surgeries and many more, the recent restrictions are leaving these patients with very little choices. Some are committing suicide to get out of the pain that never ends. There are no cures for these diseases, a terminally ill cancer patient needs what is needed to be made comfortable there is no risk of addiction as they are dying any way. There needs to be a way to separate those with mental health issues who OD on illegal/legal pain meds by adding other substances to them. A true Chronic Pain Patient only takes what is necessary and follows their doctors orders by not adding booze or illegal street drugs. And suicide tracked from not receiving proper pain medication levels.

Suicide and Chronic Pain
Estimates of the number of people with chronic pain who think seriously about taking their lives range from 20 to 50 percent. It is believed that out of the approximately 36,000 people who complete suicides every year in the United States, at least 10 to 15 percent are people suffering from chronic pain.
