Construction company 84 Lumber seems to be deliberately looking to provoke controversy with its Super Bowl ad, which depicts a Mexican mother and daughter embarking on an arduous journey, apparently to leave their country of origin.

A family member is a management analyst and he told me up the food chain there is a gender/wage gap. He told me the number one reason is in interviews when asked what they expect for salary women will toss out a number in the low range customary for the job and men will toss out a number higher than customary range. Women are afraid if they use a large number they won’t get hired, while men don’t as a rule have that fear. That is interview technique, not sexism. If women want do get paid more they need to find out what they can do different instead of assuming it is gender discrimination.
The other issue our relative sees is women that made a choice to leave their careers or really scale back on travel, working hours- but feel they should be paid the same as other women and men that stayed on the career path. Again that is not a sexist issue.
THe Owner of 84 Lumber, a former Party girl, inherited the company from her father (sound familiar). She has approx 96% control. A boycott would really hit her.
IOW the establishment moocher class is exposed.

In 84 at Raytheon there was a field service position open..myself and my best buddy at work (who is black) both applied for it.. and the Company still went outside and hired a women for it

84 Lumber never has cared about borders and fences. Back in the 60’s they used to pollute the local rural landscape by nailing these small metal white and red 84 Lumber signs to trees all along the back roads. They did not ask for permission from the farmers and landowners, either. My dad used to get so pissed about it he would drive around and tear them down, then toss them in the local dump.

Hi Ken, We do not condone illegal immigration. The journey of the mother and daughter symbolizes grit, dedication, and sacrifice. Characteristics that we look for in our people at 84 Lumber. President Trump has previously said there should be a “big beautiful door in the wall so that people can come into this country legally.” We couldn’t agree more.
