you are seriously deluded and have no clue about BSA
your grand sons will not benefit from the best youth organization there is. It will be to their detriment.
I don’t get offended easily, but your words were highly offensive.
Calling all non BSA organizations a flimsy excuse is the height of ignorance. Perhaps you should do some research.
In my case, I was a Scoutmaster and founder of a troop.
In 2013, we began to explore Trail Life USA and I was in the audience at their kickoff convention. I walked out and remarked to a friend that I hoped BSA would reverse their decision and adopt the Trail Life USA program.
It’s frankly, a better and more masculine program. The mission of TLUSA is to “guide generations of young men to honor God, serve others, lead with integrity and experience outdoor adventure.”
Rank is earned more slowly and deliberatively. It’s not a check off the boxes plan.
Their pinnacle award is significantly more difficult to earn than Eagle.
Many of us are former BSA, but not all. We believe in honoring the legacy and raising the standard, which we have done.
Sadly, BSA is just a shadow of it’s former self. I wish it wasn’t the case and they had held to their moral anchor. However, Trail Life USA is a strong, not flimsy alternative.
After you do some actual research, Ill gladly accept you apology and if you have boys, I’d like to help you get a troop started.
In my view, Trail Life is a church approved indoctrination BSA wanna be. Trail life will never have the organizational resources and depth of BSA.
It’s ok to be associated as long as you realize you are settling for second best
Sad that you’re so indoctrinated into the PC world of BSA.
There are many, many good and decent mean leading Boy Scouts, but BSA was a great organization that sold out for money and their senior leaders nothing but a bunch of Step’n Fetchit’s to their financial masters.
When Trail Life wants to make a policy change, do you know how they do it? It requires a vote of each troop, not a vote of a secret hand picked board where the members aren’t known to the membership and are chosen based on how they will vote.
Sorry, I prefer character and an organization where the ideals of the scout law actually means more than just rote memorization of 12 words.
I’m an Eagle Scout (2000) and have been been a Scouter all except while I was in college, and work with our Catholic Committee in Scouting.
I trust my local Council leadership completely. They are good men and women and I count several among my friends.
The problem is BSA National. A mentally ill child and liberal deranged mother in New Jersey can force a change in national policy that will run roughshod over our program elsewhere. All the good folks in our Council are stuck.
Depending on how this plays out, I think quite a few charter orgs will drop units. National’s insistence to ram through liberal politics is leading it to be unworthy to be called “the best youth organization there is”.
Its not me who is deluded. You seem to have overdosed on their kool aid.
Ex-Mayor of San Diego, Roger Hedgecock had a radio show. He kept trying to get the “we need gay leaders in the Boy Scouts” groups to start their own version, “The Rump Rangers”... it was hilarious, they let him continue to say that on the radio, but that was the 90’s... things have changed.
But, I am a Scout and you are not . You are not getting the full benefit of a good life
Not one dime. The name will not pass my lips hence.
Why?
Surely in the BOY Scouts one should be able to find some BALLS!
Why?
Because they don’t make the rules any more than I do. The problem is at the national level.
All the snide remarks you can muster won’t fix that.
The only real options we have are to live with it, praying that parents of ‘transgender’ girls stay away; or to leave and join one of the non-BSA options in the wider Scouting movement.
I'm glad that LUTHER didn't left this stop HIM!
Only TWO?
No room for a TRUMP to emerge from nowhere?
If the BS is this powerful; where is the little boy that will shout...
Yes, leaving and setting up a parallel organization is an option. This has been done already in Trail Life USA, the Scouts of St. George, and a few others, and some Scouts and Scouters have opted to move in this direction.
There are plenty of people both within and from outside the BSA shouting "the emperor has no clothes" and yet it isn't going to change anything.
And your snide remarks still don't help.
You know this how?
Likewise...
There are plenty of people both within and from outside the RCC shouting "the pope is not conservative enough!" and yet they must think they're going to change something.
