I am beginning to believe that my liberal friends, of whom I am fortunate to have many, are collectively, absolutely clueless about what Donald Trump has done and is doing to them.
I have maintained a fascinated watch of The Donald since the earliest days of his campaign, when I warned fellow Republicans that he was a demagogue who knew exactly what he was up to and he needed to be taken seriously. I said much the same thing to dismissive Democrats and publicly predicted he would win in the last few weeks of the campaign.
Now were seeing the same dismissive attitude in what is passing for leadership in the Democratic party, while Trump is shoving through them like the proverbial crap through a goose.
I suspect the Trumpians couldnt believe their good fortunes in having a precedent for what is, in effect, the French system of governance by decree provided by Barack Obamas active use of executive orders at the end of his term. Theres no need to wait for a shy Republican Congress to pass Trumps initiatives; he simply decrees them and invites Congress to do something about it.
In doing the refugee freeze early on, he plays his strong hand to his supporters in the face of an absolutely predictable Democratic response. Result, much to the surprise of the traditional media: More than half the country approves, while the Democrats look as if they are doing nothing more than trying to vindicate themselves in the eyes of the country and proclaiming we all made some kind of mistake in electing Trump.
Theyre still looking at the last election. Good luck with that...

The most unscrupulous are often the haughty ones.
Good call.
Reading the whole story gives one the perspective to make relevant comments instead of gagging on a single word.
I remember RR’s time in office, as well. I remember going through the angst, wondering how in the world he could be elected. Didn’t people understand that he was going to start WWIII? I believed every single thing the press said about him, and waited fearfully for some horrible thing or another to happen, which never did.
Eventually, after the press bombarded RR for years and all of the horrible things they predicted did not come to pass, I began to realize that RR was not the monster the press made him out to be. It would still take a few more years before I realized just how lying and manipulative the left is (the nomination of Bill Clinton for president was the day I swore never to vote Democrat again).
Now look at the current situation. The press is unrelentingly hostile towards Trump. If we believe the left, he is going to destroy the world. The hyperbole is over the top, and the tantrums of leftist snowflakes will not stop. The major difference between then and now is that the press cannot publish its evil rhetoric without immediate push-back, and social media enables leftist “anarchists” to organize with an efficiency that was not possible in the 1980s. What happens when some of the snowflakes who were duped by leftist propaganda realize that it was never more than propaganda? What happens when they realize that it actually is a good thing to stop illegal “immigration” and the attendant crimes such as drug and human trafficking? And so forth. Some of the snowflakes are irredeemable, since they thrive on strong negative emotion. But others actually are intelligent, albeit naive. Trump may be what they need to break them free of the leftist illusions that have been placed in front of their eyes.
I have been scanning social media with content about Trump for about a year. The libs/progs are becoming completely unhinged. Even the ones that used to try and make a reasoned argument(s) are degrading into frothy babbling, deranged and threat making trolls. This is going to end badly for them; I am over the violence and rioting; local officials need to get that under control. That said I did get a chuckle out of a Starbucks being looted in Bizerkly.
I truly hope we are witnessing the end of the post-WW2 order:
1) A monolithic party press. If you don't think they are monolithic, just look at the speed with which they all adopt the same meme (Trump's dark speech, etc).
2) The official truth (lie). The press doesn't just tell you what happened, they tell you what to think about it. The original intent was to expunge things like anti-semitism from public discourse. It morphed into the official lie and fake news, culminating in Obama lamenting the lack of "a common set of facts", none of which were true.
3) Politicians kissing the ring of the media. They had no choice, but the idea being that an apolitical media could filter out dangerous politicians and ideas. But they have turned into an arm of the democratic party. A republican who embraces the official lie and accepts their power can really only implement their agenda.
Trump doesn't need the media, he explodes the official lie, and exposes their rampant functioning as a state party organ.
The real question is whether we are witnessing a man or a true political change. With Reagan, we were only seeing a man. With GHWB, things returned to what they were before Reagan took office in terms of the direction of the nation.
Exactly. They've never seen anything like this before and have no clue how to react.
Quire incredible coming from the leftist Tribune rag.
