Republicans on a Senate committee on Thursday suspended panel rules to force a vote on President Trump’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) nominee over a Democratic protest.

Republicans on the Environment and Public Works Committee, led by Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), changed the rules governing a quorum so that only the panel’s Republicans needed to be in attendance to approve Scott Pruitt’s nomination to lead the EPA.

The committee’s full roster of Republicans — including Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), whose nomination to be attorney general is awaiting consideration on the Senate floor — attended Thursday’s hearing and approved Pruitt on an 11-0 vote.

That is not on the table.

That is what I meant; I mistyped, meaning that the nuclear option would not be used. Reply done in haste, makes waste.

This strategy is designed to appease their base.

I hope the Democrats and their base are happy. Their "strategy" is burning their house to the ground.

I think their bullheaded refusal to face reality is going to result in them becoming a super minority within a couple years.

This strategy is designed to appease their base. Americans that don’t follow politics (Which are many) everyday could care less.

It's entertaining to watch & interact with their power base on Twitter - the Media journoFakes & the Ivory Tower academics.

I started to explain to one of the Ivory Tower types why they got their @sses kicked, and were continuing the Fail, but I wasn't "important" enough.

It is to laugh. 😀

The nuclear option was already done by Harry Reid years ago. That is not on the table. They need Sessions to get 50 votes for DeVos because two Republicans have already announced they will vote against her - plus Pence would make a 51-50 confirmation, assuming there are no other defections.

Probably not. I analyzed it, and even Collins is taking a chance - even though she thinks she isn't. Getting primaried in the Age of Trump is NOT out of the realm of possibility. 😀

I'd actually be surprised if a Manchin didn't flip when the outcome becomes clear.

Maybe we should ask Larry Schweikart to weigh in on this question.

The Trump team must have set aside a room at the Capitol for a testosterone transfusion unit.

It wouldn’t be enough were it not for President Donald “Hard Place” Trump.

I believe it is called a “quorum” which has the authority to vote on an issue, bill, nomination.

Dems stayed away like fools and paid the price. Time that we turned their abuse of congressional procedural rules against them and shoved them up their collective leftist aholes.

In this case, “MORE is Good”.

They both voted to procedurally allow the vote to take place, so since apparently there are no other defections this all but assures confirmation.

When a leader like President Trump displays consistent, amazing courage, it can help the less courageous to summon their own personal courage. He leads by example, and he is fearless. God bless him.
