Donald Trump has changed Black History Month to National African American History month, and we know why. A senior administration official tells TMZ, after meeting with African American leaders, he believed the consensus was that the term "black" is outdated, and the more appropriate way to refer to the community is "African American." The official added, Trump was mindful of the new addition to the Smithsonian ... the National Museum of African American History and Culture. Every U.S. president since 1976 had designated February as Black History Month ... same sentiment, different name.

Great. Ask any black who is the leader of Africa??
Name the African nations??
Explain the African style of Government??
It didn't. Blac...er...I mean, African Americans use it all the time. More as a form of emphasis over their usual favorite standby, n!§§€r.
Right. This was an unnecessary move by Trump that doesn't fix anything.
Trump is playing a game with them. If that’s what they want and it costs nothing, give it to them.
I wish blacks would spend as much energy and time cleaning up their problems. What they call themselves is the least of their problems.
I personally don’t care what they want to be called. When they have a white history month or a white congressional caucus - I might begin to care.
Regardless what our President or anyone else wants to call it, it’s still pandering and it’s still February.
What about Caribbean Americans? Now they don’t have a month to celebrate.

Good post, tomkat. Ditto!

I agree. He wants them to know that he cares about their communities and this is one small way to do it. It’s perhaps a beginning to bring the community to understanding that they have been the victims of the democratic policies for a long time.
And what will it be changed to in 20 years time? Pathetic.
My mom was part scotch part soda
I always check Native American and they look at me and say How?
I call them racist dirt bags don’t talk to me like that again
They’re still gonna complain about being short-changed because February only has 28 days.
Bad move by Trump. Singling out any race or class of people for ANYTHING in America is divisive & wrong, PERIOD!
Should have been changed to : Americans of African Descent Month.
Nothing should go before Americans as it only further divides us.
A change to Black American would have been good. It would make the proper distinction as to who is being referenced. Not all blacks are Americans, obviously, and not all black Americans are of African origin directly.
African American is an absurd term that would only realistically apply to naturalized Americans from Africa who could potentially be of any race on the planet. Even their offspring would be natural born Americans and therefore not African-anything.
It is still imprecise as Africa is not a nation. Properly, a naturalized American from the African continent would be a Kenyan-American, Sudanese-American, Egyptian-American, South African-American and so on. Those would be correct, but unnecessary, epithets for them.
Who gives a crap! This is so minor as to be at the minutia level.
