Police: 2 Troy High Students Plotted Shooting ‘Bigger Than Columbine’
CBS Los Angeles ^ | February 1, 2017

Two Troy High School students have been taken into custody on accusations they plotted a school shooting, police announced Wednesday.

The two 16-year-olds were arrested on charges of making criminal threats and conspiracy to commit a felony, the Fullerton Police Department reported.

According to police, the two suspects were overheard Tuesday night at a Troy High athletic event plotting to “shoot up” the school. A witness told police the suspects discussed various types of guns and described the shooting plot as being “bigger than Columbine,” referring to the 1999 school shooting that left 13 innocent people dead.

The witness snapped a photograph of the two students and contacted the Fullerton police school resource officer for Troy High.

Fullerton police, along with Fullerton Joint Union High School District and Troy High School officials began an investigation. The students in question were identified and arrested Wednesday, police said.

Authorities determined that the suspects had made statements similar to the ones that were overheard Tuesday night. Investigators also found evidence that the suspects had conducted internet research on “school shooting topics, including weaponry” as recently as Tuesday.

Parents told KCAL9 that the school notified them of the situation Wednesday night.

“Some of us got texts and some of us got voicemails to know there was an issue,” parent Rochelle Simkins said.

The suspects have been booked into Orange County Juvenile Hall. Their names have not been released because of they are juveniles. Anyone with information on the case should call FPD at 714-738-3156.

If the police found weapons in their possession/homes, charge them as adults.

It will teach them more about the real world and life than school obviously did. Must have skipped “Civics Class”.

Oh, California doesn’t offer “Civics Classes” anymore? Figures.

It’s actually a pretty good part of Fullerton. Hasn’t been hit by the demographic change and resulting blight that has wrecked so much of north OC.

So if the parents exercised their constitutional right to keep and bare arms these to whack jobs should be charged as adults?

These kids are screwed up, they need to spend some serious time in a mental health facility. Thank God they didn't get to act on their twisted plans.

Try them as adults then execute them in the style they were going to execute others, starting with crotch shots. It’s time to step up the game and let these a$$hole$ know they are going to suffer if they intend on killing others. Let them go to court and leftists will find them not guilty and they will do even more harm later as terrorists for ISIS.

When I read that an event was "planned" I have to wonder, was it really planned or were this just some kids talking s**t, as teens are known to do?

Teens have vivid fantasy lives. They're supposed to. It's healthy. Problem is, so many now are afraid of missing the next "warning signs" --as happened at Columbine, that everything has to be taken straight to the top.

I'd hate to be a kid today.

Wow, one of the best schools you could go to in that area. Not known for gangs at all or for troubles.
Had a niece and two nephews go there.

Great catch by the citizen.

If the police were able to verify a credible, present threat, and prevent criminal, deadly acts, then congratulations on a job well done.

Haven’t seen many hard facts, yet, though.

If I had been a high school student during Columbine, I’m sure the topic would have come up with my friends of how easy it would be to perpetrate such an atrocity. That coward was not great marksman nor strategist, he just saw how vulnerable his school was.

How many students were killed at Columbine? How long did it take police to respond? I don’t know guys, let’s google on the school library’s computer.

Now put a pansy-leftist liberal kid in the row behind us at the school basketball game, overhearing us talking about Columbine, and how, with planning, something even worse could take place and our school.

Again, great if authorities stopped a genuine plot. Hopefully the kids get a fair hearing/trial before they are “executed, starting with crotch shots”.

It's the doing the research part that pushes me to the opinion that that these two need some mental health care. I agree it is normal to fantasize about getting some sort of revenge on someone, but not on a whole bunch of someones.
