Did Joe Manchin just open the door for Republicans to invoke the nuclear option if necessary to confirm Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court? In appearances on CNN and MSNBC this morning, Dem Senator Manchin blasted his fellow Dems for having invoked the nuclear option in the first place.
Said Manchin on Morning Joe: Ive been opposed to the nuclear option. I thought Harry Reid was dead wrong when he did it. I voted against that. My dear beloved senator, prior to my coming here, was Robert C. Byrd and he would be rolling over in his grave knowing what we have done. That could be understood to mean: Dems, if the Republicans now use the nuclear option to confirm Gorsuch, youve got no one to blame but yourselves for having opened Pandoras Box.

Why?
He had absolutely no statewide campaign. It was pathetic.
He has been asked several times. (Personally I don’t want him!) He has this state Rat machine that stretches down from the state house through the 55 counties to city councilmen/women that he thinks would feel betrayed and then abandon him. Personally from home visits and talking to relatives that is all changing they’re evolving (or being replaced!) to GOP. It’s much much slower in the more rural economically distressed counties then the more populated industrial counties but it is happening. So they may abandon him first! His gun control shenanigans really hurt him! The problem is lack of identifiable charismatic GOP’er to oppose. At least this is what my relatives say.
He wants to be the Rat who picks up the fragments of the Rat party, nails it back together and walks in and saves the day from the right\left extremists.
Politicians by their nature are always open to a deal corrupt or otherwise.
They continue to underestimate Trump at their peril. I hope it is a long time before they smarten up.
