Did Joe Manchin just open the door for Republicans to invoke the nuclear option if necessary to confirm Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court? In appearances on CNN and MSNBC this morning, Dem Senator Manchin blasted his fellow Dems for having invoked the nuclear option in the first place.
Said Manchin on Morning Joe: “I’ve been opposed to the nuclear option. I thought Harry Reid was dead wrong when he did it. I voted against that. My dear beloved senator, prior to my coming here, was Robert C. Byrd and he would be rolling over in his grave knowing what we have done.” That could be understood to mean: Dems, if the Republicans now use the nuclear option to confirm Gorsuch, you’ve got no one to blame but yourselves for having opened Pandora’s Box.

Can our feckless WV Republican Party come up with a good candidate this time? John Raese was a nice guy, but didn’t know how to run a campaign at all. And what the hell was up with Bill Cole? Great senator; no clue how to run a statewide campaign.

If Manchin votes to confirm Gorsuch, which I think he will, what are the odds that he’s primaried by a liberal Dem, and that the liberal would beat him in the primary?
I am not so sure... West Virginia elected Manchin even after he co wrote the major democratic gun grab legislation. Maybe now since they rid themselves of union slavery, there might be hope. Just not likely considering their voting history.
Sen. Manchin knows what his name will be in West Virginia if he does not help President Trump. If he ever wants to be reelected, he HAS to support Trump’s nominees.
No, Munchkin committed that treason AFTER the 2012 election. Manchin was actually endorsed by the NRA, and given an "A+" rating in both 2010 and 2012.
I think he's in danger; he will face a primary challenger, and the challenger is almost guaranteed to be even nuttier than he is. I give 50/50 for his re-nomination by the 'Rats, and better than 50/50 for re-election if nominated. WV Republican Party has its collective head up its ass; no clue how to run a statewide campaign.
Capito won in 2014 mainly because her opponent was completely bat-guano crazy, and not well known.
