Remember when Reagan fired the air traffic controllers?
We got past it. Moved some people over from the military, brought people back from retirement, recruited people left and right, and we survived it.
We should do the same thing now. There are probably 900 army officers with overseas experience, 900 oil company execs with overseas experience, 900 missionaries with overseas experience, who could be pressed into service and we’d never miss a beat.
The FAA ATC’s were a real necessary group of people.
The State Department bureaucrats are totally unnecessary extra baggage we can do without.....................
My brother was just out of serving 4 years in the Air Force and was thrilled to get hired after the firing. Made it a career. Retired at 55, took another ATC job at a small, regional airport and just retired for good last August, at 61 years of age, and a very well off retiree, all thanks to what started with Ronald Reagan.
