Democrats are digging their own grave — and boosting Trump at the same time

Let’s agree that President Trump’s travel ban on visitors from seven nations was a sensible idea hobbled by flaws, especially regarding green-card holders and dual citizens. Let’s also agree we haven’t seen a rollout this clumsy since the debut of ObamaCare, which was far more serious because it penalized millions of Americans while Trump’s order inconvenienced hundreds of foreign nationals.

Still, we can assume, based on past performance, that Trump will learn from the mistakes. His fierce determination to be a successful president cannot coexist with rookie blunders.

But what about the other players in the drama? Can we say the media will now correct its excess of bile and cover Trump as a legitimate president and not as an invasive species?

No, no, no. On the contrary, we must say that Trump aide Steve Bannon was on target when he called the Washington media “the opposition party.”

Don’t take his word for it. Stick a toe into the toxic sludge that passes for straight-news coverage in The Washington Post, The New York Times and others.

Look for the use of tell words like “Muslim ban” to describe an executive order that is no such thing. Look for hero worship of protesters, immigrants, refugees, lawyers rushing to the barricades and congressional critics.

Look, too, at the Twitter feeds of editors and reporters from those papers and the major networks. You’ll see their embrace of everything anti-Trump, further evidence they are part of a movement to obstruct the president, not cover him.

Trump really should have waited a couple of weeks, got Tillerson in office, fired those 900 people and then used that as a way to implement the travel EO.

Considering the Superbowl is this weekend, perhaps there was chatter about a "Sum of All Fears"-type event...

When the famous general Hannibal was nine years old, his father Hamilcar took him to the temple of Baal in Carthage and made him swear he would hate the Romans forever. Where can I go to swear eternal hatred of the Democratic Party?

Why? Do you think it was so horrible sitting in the customs office for a few hours was torture? They were inconvenienced, oh the horror.

I don’t care if they had a green card or visa, it was an inconvenience. We didn’t deport them. Some of us have waited longer getting through the lines at the TSA. Anyone here ever miss a flight because you couldn’t get cleared on time and had to catch the next flight?

I didn’t see tons of limbs turning out on the streets to protest that

Green card holders faced extra scrutiny. The vast majority were vetted and passed through. This is all smoke and mirrors.

If we are lucky, all this hysteria will drive the Democrats further left to the point that they try to run out-right socialists and commies.

Oh, wait, they did. And we he arguably was more popular than the the criminal the Democrats nominated.

We’re doomed...

The MSM, and the left, I'm sorry for repeating, but these people know exactly what they're doing, they're following Alinsky’s rules for radicals. They really believe that the majority of the country is so stupid that they will fall for the antics of the left and that that will demoralize Republicans so that they will want to dump Trump.

The media and the left are the same, the mainstream media is simply an arm of the Democratic Party, it is sickening.

In this particular instance Trump was not clumsy, he was speedy. I would rather close the door quickly and risk a few fingers getting smashed than closing the door too slowly so that people that we don't want get in. It's okay to smash a few fingers in the process.

The selection for the Supreme Court, the extreme vetting, the kill two for every new regulation and selecting sessions for the Atty. Gen. have been the most conservative political events I have seen in my long life time. I have a reverence for Ronald Reagan that is hard to describe without emotion however seeing the first week or so of the Trump presidency leads me to believe that there is a good chance that Trump will be a much more conservative and logical president than even Reagan. Those are very difficult words for me to say and it is a little early to know whether that will be the case. I am more than pleasantly surprised at how wonderful this presidency is going so far, the left be damned.

The way Obie was bringing the muzzies in, we have no idea if the ones with green cards and visas aren’t setting up jihadist training camps and going back home to report and get further instructions/training.

Anyone who was let in during the Obama watch needs to be reevaluated.
I don’t care who or what they claim to be or what their reason for leaving was.

I listened to an immigration apologist try to explain why we should bring in hundreds of thousands of Muslims into this country. His arguements came down to two.

1. They need help, so we should help them.

2. We get credit from other nations for doing this.

Both seem without merit to me. There are billions of people on the planet that need help. If we bring them to the U.S., the U.S. will be destroyed.

I fail to see that we get any worthwhile “credit” for bringing in refugees. Half the world hates us on trumped up conspiracies. They will not like us because we bring in some refugees.

Given that there are whole departments of the federal bureaucracy refusing to do what he says, he may have acted through the few channels he knew would obey.

Really? Thanks for clearing all that up for a poor general contractor from 5th Avenue.

“1. They need help, so we should help them.”

We already help most of the world with billions of taxpayer dollars every year. Time to demand some results for our money.

“2. We get credit from other nations for doing this.”

Most of the world hates us because we have been strong, successful and prosperous.

The Arab states only want us to take in their troublemakers so the ruling class can live safely and high on the hog, just like Mexico.

The same European nations that disparage and denigrate us when things are going well will run to us when their chestnuts need to pulled from the fire. And then they go right back to badmouthing us when they are safe.

Enough.
That argument holds no water.

I grew up overseas and I experienced anti-Americanism up close and personal. I could tell that at the root of it was jealousy.

“nothing clumsy about it”

I thought Spicer explained it pretty well (paraphrased): “you don’t project you actions to your enemies.”

IOW - they could have created a “clean” roll-out, but that would have required planning and notifications, which would have given our enemies time to adjust their travel plans to avoid the ban.

The Democrats and CNN have lost all credibility.

The French seem to be especially envious.
Must be they remember us dragging their butts from the brink of extinction TWICE.

The Germans I can understand holding a grudge. We helped whip them twice.

England and the rest of Europe I just don’t understand.
