An officer-involved shooting took place inside a Hollywood fast food restaurant after multiple stabbings were reported in the area, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed Tuesday.
The shooting was reported around 2 p.m. at the corner of Ivar Avenue and Sunset Boulevard but the number of people injured was unclear, said LAPD Officer Aareon Jefferson.
CNN reporter Maeve Reston witnessed some of the chaos and said on Twitter that she saw a male suspect who officers later shot trying to stab people.
Unclear how many stabbing victims there are, but suspect ran down Sunset Blvd. trying to stab people outside our CNN office in Hollywood, Reston tweeted at 2:19 p.m.
The suspect reportedly entered the Jack in the Box restaurant on the corner and started stabbing people inside, according to LAPD Officer Sal Ramirez.
Officers responding to the assault with a deadly weapon call confronted the suspect inside the restaurant, at which time an (officer-involved shooting) occurred, Ramirez said. The suspect went down and was taken into custody.
At least two stabbing victims were transported to local hospitals, Ramirez said, adding that the suspects condition was not known and the investigation was ongoing.
Reston later added that the suspect tried to enter a nearby coffee shop but was stopped by a customer.
B4 (before) Hollywood stabbing suspect shot, tried to come into our fave coffee place (with) his knife, but customer held glass door shut, blocking him.
The area, which is often full tourists, employees from nearby businesses and patrons of the Arclight Theater, was blocked off by police and emergency vehicles.

Religion of peace again?
Those Quebec Le Pen fans are everywhere lately.
“Ivar Avenue and Sunset Boulevard”
Our studio is close to this intersection. It’s also where Amoeba records, and the LA Film School is located and all idiots converge at the jack in the Box, all across each other. Ping to Freeper Booha who is located really close to this place lol
“a male suspect”
Potential civil rights violation, there, Bucko. Sexual profiling, first of all, and assumes the suspect doesn’t identify as a she. Send that reporter to sensitivity training.
Mohammed What?
Rasheem Who?
Trayvon Whatsit?
The absence of that detail piques my curiosity.
Given what they didnt report, safe to say it isnt a white christian male.
We obviously need knife control
Well I for one am glad they waited until “after the rampage” ...... < / sarcasm>
no description of the perp.... well we know what that means don’t we??
I’m about a 10 minute walk away from here. Beachwood and Franklin
“CNN reporter Maeve Reston witnessed some of the chaos and said on Twitter that she saw a male suspect”
Well, a reporter called him a “male suspect” so we know he’s not a white guy.
Police: “The motive remains unclear.”
Violence begets violence.
Too bad he didn’t attack people exiting the SAG awards.
Amoeba is awesome. I also like that sushi place there where the food travels around the restaurant on little tracks.
In another lifetime, my wife (literally the-girl-next-door) moved to Hollywood in ;ate late 60’s/early 70’s as a couple of 19-y/o kids from Ohio.
We found an apt between Sunset & Hollywood Blvd just west of Normandy (I think) and were so poor, our primary entertainment was walking Sunset & HWD Blvds and watch the “show”.
It was not the war zone it is now...but quite a time back then.
Yeah lol I eat there too. No need for the rip off parking. Park at McdOnald’s on Vine then walk.
Thanks Max,
I usually turn on Ivar off Sunset heading to my Loft one block away. Right in front of Jack in the box.
Today I took Hollywood Blvd. home so I missed the action.
