Trump cancels Harley Davidson factory visit over planned protests: report

President Trump's scheduled trip to a Harley-Davidson factory in Milwaukee on Thursday has been canceled over the likelihood of protests, CNN reported Tuesday.
An administration official told the news network that the plans were scrapped after the motorcycle giant became uncomfortable with the threat of demonstrations.
Over the weekend, massive protests broke out at airports across the country after Trump signed an executive order on Friday banning citizens of certain Muslim-majority countries from entering the U.S. Other large protests were planned for the president's Milwaukee visit, according to CNN. Trump was originally supposed to head to the factory for a tour on Thursday, where he was set to sign executive orders pertaining to manufacturing.

I used to have to occasionally interact with the H-D hierarchy. I became a convert to the notion that H-D is actually a marketing firm that is compelled - reluctantly - to have a motorcycle business attached.
The President ought to see if Polaris/Victory/Indian has anything on the schedule.

You are exactly correct, DoughtyOne.
President 0bama traveled freely and without hassle (to him or his misguided supporters) more than 99.99% of the time.
President Trump should go anywhere he wishes in this nation.
If he encounters protesters who so much as put a scratch on Trump supporters who have peacefully gathered, they should be arrested.
As in arrested and held pending trial. Leftwingers need to understand striking others is a serious crime.
They should expect they might be in jail a week or two awaiting their court appearance if they resort to assault and battery.

I agree. No doubt about it. They need to face the same thing anyone else in public would.
Further, if they get out there in a mob situation, it should be grounds for special circumstances and an extended stay in the graybar hotel.

Leftwingers seemingly just have to pay a modest fine if involved in violent protests...and that is the end of their transaction.
The "price tag" that is attached to violent crime needs to be raised 50% just for starters.
A few weeks waiting in jail, a felony conviction, subsequent jail sentence, and meaningful restitution to victims might make people think twice before striking innocents.
In the event of violent civil unrest, marking protesters with visible paint and/or taggants visible under UV light should not be off the table to facilitate investigations.

President Trump should absolutely *NOT* invite us to smash heads.
Violent lawbreakers of any stripe should be apprehended, tried, and sentenced.

Starting at $40,299 ... As usual TG you lie like a rug about anything to do with bikes or bikers because your hate, your liberal hate, drives you.
I can't believe you haven't been zotted for all your crap.
The price of the top of the line model you pictured starts at $26,299 with all the bells and whistles. Fancy paint and wheels are extra. The standard model without the tour pack starts at $21,299.
Why don't you just go back to DU where you came from... lying troll. If there's one thing I can't stand it's a liar and you lie every chance you get.

The Harley Davidson parts are made in China, then shipped to different parts of America to be assembled at the plants...I visited the one in PA while I lived there and witnessed this myself...You can blame our hyper-regulatory, high-tax government for a lot of that. A lot of those parts could easily be made here, and for little cost if the government wasn't standing in the way.
Try to get something chrome-plated in the US.

Not widely know at the time, We became the lender of last resort for $2.3 billion in loans to HD in 2008.
Without which, HD would have gone under.

“It wasnt Trump that cancelled, it was HD. They caved to the protesters.”
They didn’t want the protests seen around the world on CNN.
CEO has talked before:
“I have lived outside of the U.S. twice, and I remember being in Switzerland in 2008 and moving into this new apartment. Tradespeople were coming in and out, and every time one of these guys would come into the apartment he would do one of these thumbs up signs and say “Obama, Obama.””

As always you’re being disingenuous. The CVO line is like comparing Porsche to VW. Yes, VW owns both, but they are not the same machines.
You can’t win this one because as always you resort to misdirection which is just another word for lying. Now if you had specified you were talking about the CVO line of bikes which are almost twice as much money as their regular line then you would have a leg to stand on but you didn’t so you don’t.
Enough of this nonsense. Begone.
