Reading the statement word for word, sounded like one of those apologetic non-apologies.

It was a CYA statement, he didn’t mean to offend anyone. Right. He should be dismissed immediately.

IMHO he copied “Hanoi” Jane Fonda when she got around to apologizing for her actions during Vietnam.

In her case, the economic impact (the drop in sales of her most recent set of exercise tapes was being felt. In his case it was a belated attempt to avoid the same.

In both cases the written ‘apology” rang hallow from start to finish. case it was an attempt to staunch
