House Republicans will move this week to wipe out a series of rules finalized in the closing days of the Obama administration, including one that could prevent certain Social Security recipients from purchasing guns.
Under the rule — part of President Obama’s gun control push — Social Security was to scour its lists for people receiving certain disability payments who were deemed mentally impaired, then flag their names in the national gun-purchasing background-check system.
The Obama administration billed it as a way to provide more complete information about people who shouldn’t have access to firearms, but gun rights advocates saw it as an infringement on the Second Amendment.
“This rule is a clear violation of disabled Americans’ due process rights, and passing this resolution would send a strong message that Congress and President Trump still believe our Constitution is worth defending,” said Rep. Ralph Lee Abraham, Louisiana Republican, who has sponsored legislation to repeal the rule.

Now it makes sense why they want government run medicine! With access to your medical record, they can cherry pick reasons to deprive you of your Constitutional Rights—in the name of the Public Welfare.

Create a straw man to knock over.
Take away a freedom to fix a non-existent problem.
I don’t own a gun but I am a social security recipient who would be denied because of my disability. I don’t know what to think because years ago I had made a decision not to own a gun. I am glad they are removing the regulations because the idea behind the rule is to remove all gun ownership.
Had an eye out for questions about firearms, unfortunately, none. Might have been fun, but the wife always says do not do it, they can cause too much trouble.
Told her "Yes, I have access to 23 firearms." (A slight fib.)
Nurse almost went into cardiac arrest. At 83 I absolutely will die hard if the SS tries to confiscate my guns.
Of course, like everyone else, they better be wearing scuba diving equipment when they come.
Using the ADA in reverse on them? Novel idea!
My answer to stuff like “How many guns do you own?” is “I don’t own a SINGLE gun.”
Was this the law that tried to curb the epidemic of senior citizen mayhem? ;-)
